Much agreed! Though it's still taking a bit to process how much shapes matter, i.e. pentagon hole vs. oval hole... they're both holes, but even I prefer one over the other. lol

I think the crest cut out, ending in a bit of a "V," kind of normalizes the neckline. V necks are certainly something we see a lot of in reality, so it looks more natural. Plus the way it works with the cape tie really pulls it all together and helps to move the eye. Oval hole is a bit of a full stop in comparison.

Sweet! I'm thinking of extreme shapes for the hole that are fun/ny yet unacceptable and realize now why an oval hole is a bit of a full-stop. Thanks for making sense of it for me!
