When I saw a post on Facebook about Spider-Man leaving the MCU, I was like nah, usual Facebook clickbait… until I saw it literally everywhere! Obviously, my reaction to this was curl into a ball and binge 20 episodes of Sailor Moon, but I don’t think I overreacted…

Ever since Tom Holland took the role of Spider-Man, he has become my favourite MCU character (film series). Don’t get me wrong, Toby Mcguire was my childhood Spider-Man, and Andrew Garfield was sort of this weird thing that happened for a short time, but Tom Holland MADE Spider-Man into this incredibly likable character, different from the past renditions of Spider-Man and pretty much every other superhero. The ‘Far from Home’ cliff-hanger was the most excited I’ve been since the trailer for Endgame! I felt as though Tom Holland was going to bring the MCU series into a whole new adventure after Robert Downey Jr, their arc was one of my favourite storylines out of all of the characters! So much character development now feels like it has gone to waste! Endgame felt just that, the END, until Far From Home was released, the hype got real again.

The fear is (although I love the DCU) they will follow the same lead as DC, recasting, retelling and inconsistency, the same thing that has been the downfall of the DC movie franchise since ‘The Dark Knight Rises’.

I heard rumours that Tom Holland’s contract still has at least 2 more films for Spider-Man? I hope this is true, the series can’t end on that cliff-hanger!
