Description
This was done in about two semi-distracted hours. I just kinda felt like drawing, which was weird. But I like animals, so I'm glad I still have the ability to crank out something like this.Also, I used a reference picture, but I used it as little as possible in an effort to further develop my own style.
The lion's supposed to look content/happy, but I think the eyes are a little sad... I dunno. Thoughts?

To me the lion looks content, though it`s mostly the pose the lion is in, not necessarily the eyes, because they look a little weird to me, there is no pupil visible, only some blurs that I can`t seem to make something concrete out of. I understand that maybe it`s the way the light falls, but I can`t make a clear direction of light out also, so it confuses me a bit. 
I really like how you draw shapes and forms, it`s really good!
The shading could use some more work though, there is depth in the picture but I prefer shading and texture in soft pencil strokes instead of smudging because then most drawings will look exactly that way: smudgy. It`s a matter of taste though.
Not to bring the drawing down or anything, I`m trying to be constructive.

I've experimented with soft strokes, but those tend to take a little more time and this (and the fox) were both just quick sketches.

I wouldn't say sad -- just looks tired and relaxed to me...there is SOMETHING about the eyes :-/ I dunno...in the thumbnail they looked to marble-like, but in the full-size, it looks okay.
Either way -- it's awesome and I'm jealous
