Description MASSIVE SPOILER WARNING!!!

When Lorelei hears that her treacherous son has been captured after foolishly sacrificing himself to protect some children, she immediately goes to see him. Once Ray lays his eyes upon his mother for the first time since he chose his family, chained in restraints the prohibit his ability to phase through walls and escape his cell, he begins to tremble violently with fear and hatred. He's always feared that he would one day have to face her again, but he had at least been able to imagine himself to at least be able to fight back. Now, restrained and unable to defend himself, he is completely at Lorelei's mercy. It isn't long until Lorelei forbids anyone else to interrogate him for answers about the Resistance but her. Not out of any motherly love. But because she desires to torture and break him for his defiance against her herself. It wouldn't be the first time she's done this, and she wouldn't let the chance to renew one of her favorite pleasures slip from her grasp.

Lorelei uses her Psychic powers try and leech the information right from his mind, regardless of if it hurt him or not. He is disgusted each time she caresses his face as she speaks to him in her sickly sweet tone, understanding that such gentle facades hid the cruel sadist she truly was. It wasn't the touch of a mother. This was cold, empty, and made his heart sink with dread. However, he quickly realized that the touch alone wasn't the worst of what she was doing as he felt something sliver into his mind from her touch. Ray begins building mental barriers up to defend the knowledge he had. He even began to induce amnesia upon himself in desperation to keep the secrets of the Resistance out of her grasp, not caring what it would do to his mental state.

Ray endures many "interrogation" sessions at Lorelei's hands, refusing to break or give in to her demands. He knew that if he allowed himself to slip even once, his siblings, friends, and the Resistance would pay for it. He couldn't let that happen. He wouldn't let that happen. Not to his baby sister Aurore. Not to his little brother Aarón. Not to his best friend Mortimer. Not to his friend Mina. Not to anyone. Ray would sooner die than let anything happen to his loved ones.

Growing frustrated with his defiance against her and his unyielding will to forsake the Resistance, particularly his half-brother and some human he dared to call his "sister", Lorelei decides to take more drastic actions. In another interrogation session, she has some of her minions force a strange collar on him. Ray tries to resist, but they easily overpower him in his weakened and exhausted state. Before Ray can question what the collar is for, he is struct with an intense electric shock from the collar as Lorelei laughs at his pain. She playfully warns him that further resistance against her would result in him being electrocuted. He realizes how much fear must be plain to see upon his face when he sees the look of pleasure on her face. If there was ever one thing Lorelei loved most in the world, it was the fear and misery of others at her mercy. And, at that moment, she looked absolutely euphoric.

Ray, despite the electric torture and his mother's mental torture, still refuses to give in. As frightened as he was, he knew that giving in would result in something far worse. He kept trying to remind himself who this was all for. What he was protecting. Why he had sacrificed himself in the first place. His family. That was all that mattered to him. He would bear it all if it meant his brother and sister remained safe. However, over time, his defensive measures to protect the Resistance's secrets began to betray him. The more he forced memories to fade from his consciousness and go into a mental shut down, the more he found himself questioning why he was suffering so much. Eventually, all he had left that kept his mind functioning was the memories of his brother and sister and the hopeful wish that he'd one day be able to hold them tightly in his embrace again, tears of pure joy and relief in their eyes. This angered Lorelei greatly, and she did not hold back on letting her frustrations out on him. Even after all she had put him through, forcing him to relive his earliest childhood, invading his mind, and even putting an electric collar on him to better control his actions. None of it was working. He would eventually break, but it was clear that he would be too useless and close to death by then.

After another failed interrogation, Lorelei stormed off from Ray's cell. She was still livid even after taking out her frustrations on him. He was barely alive after what she had done to him. Any more and he would surely draw his last breath. That was fine with Ray. He could at least die knowing he had protected his family and made his mother furious beyond reason for remaining so strong. He couldn't help but let out a small chuckle at his fate. His mind was an absolute mess, but he still could visualize the smiling faces of his siblings. That was all the peace he needed. Unfortunately for Ray, and much to Lorelei's annoyance, a shadowy figure would soon change all that...

(I apologize for the angst, but I found this little animatic and it just sparked some major inspiration for me: www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsmPqY… . As horrifying as this all is, this is pretty much how I imagine Lorelei would go about interrogating Ray after he sacrifices himself to save his siblings and is taken captive by the Temporal Guardians. It really helps to set up just how cruel and heartless his mother truly is, and I still didn't touch on a lot of stuff she'd do to him to get what she wanted. So, yeah, saying that Lorelei is not a "nice lady" would be putting it VERY MIDLY. One could think of quite a few choice words for her, but I don't really care to use such language. My togue is not that vulgar. But, yeah, you can see why Ray would turn out the way he did.
