"Thanks for taking me down here, Twinkletoes. It's so nice out tonight. Feels perfect."
The girl took a deep breath in and then out. She longingly looked up at the star-speckled, navy sky as a gust of wind blow through her hair. Her visually-impaired eyes allowed her to only see a blur of black with a few bright dots, but if you were to look at her yourself, you would think she is gazing upon the stars, connecting them to make a picture or counting every one she saw in her head.

But all she saw was blank.

The boy with the arrow tattoo responded. "I'm glad you like it...My parents used to take me down here. The weather was always perfect. Thought I'd show it to you."
"Well, it's great. I could stay here all day and just sleep in this grass!" She flung herself backwards and lay her back on the soft bed of grass. The boy joined her and lay his back next to her on the ground as well. She pleasantly sighed and the boy did the same.
As he was staring up at the the sea of stars, he thought of something. He couldn't decide if he was going to say it out loud or not, but his curiosity got the best of him.
"Hey..." he paused for a moment, "...can you...see any of the stars? They're really bright out tonight, and I was just wondering, since-"
"Yeah, a little. My vision actually been getting kind of worse so, they are kind of dull, but they are there. Faint, but there."
Quietness passed on for a couple seconds.
"'Cause the way I see 'em are bright and beautiful....just like your eyes." He reached his hand to the vast firmament above him, to emphasize his metaphor. "They both shine like the moon-"
"Okay, cut the sap."
Her "seriously determined" face appeared and she sat up. The boy was sometimes scared of this face.
He sat up and uneasily awaited to what she had to say.
"What do you do if you want to show a girl you like her?"
"Uh...." The boy did not expect this from the girl's mouth, but then again....

she WAS an unexpecting girl.

She continued.
"Do you go on to tell her cheesy lines about her eyes???"
"Um......I guess not....." He bit his lip. He didn't know what to say! "Well, then, what DO I do???"
The girl smiled a smile to herself when he said this, as if this was the answer she had been looking for.
She calmly answered, "Well, first you put your arm around her, and let her gently rest her head on your shoulder. Here, I'll show you. It's simple."

I drew this up a while back to practice the "all colored pencil, no pen" technique.
Originally, it was going to be a two-parter. To show Modern-Aang's perspective of Modern-Toph. He looks at her and she's beautiful, and he's stunned... blah blah blah. . BUT, I just scribbled THAT out of my head and changed the picture's concept....to some long one-shot I decided to WRITE. Actually WRITE....that took me like 2 HOURS....

*lost track of time and doesn't really know how long it took*

It's SO late and I wanted to finish it. :^P
And after reading this, WOW, I'm such a sucker for cute fluff.

OH, and just to make things clear, in this AU Modern version of them, Toph is not COMPLETELY blind, just heavily visually-challenged....so ALMOST blind. XD

And I KNOW Aang's hand looks like it's being crushed. Forgive me, my fellow artists.
