I hope this is the right section for this, I've never toyed with photos more than a little tweak here and there.Anyways I used a stock picture that had taken and was bored in the middle of my Sociology class so I played around with it and ended up with this. I like how it came out too.

filters are not your friends... if you really want to try photo manipulation, you gotta dig into those pixels man! 
the gimp can give you some interesting effects, but really, it's not about the pre-scripted effects you use.
keep it up though... next time you're in a class and find yourself bored, grab a good tutorial and start learnin'!

I really like the idea of it, but the bright colors just are too much of a contrast. I would have gone with a black and white next to the "normal" photo.
