so. i think i'm happy with how this turned out. i think. not exactly sure yet.so done in charcoal. done a bit more loosely than i intended, but i think it's okay. anyways, i'm done, so it's done.
i realize that the face plate idea looks like some other DD on here, just to let you know i saw it after sketching out my picture. no copying. 'sides, it's not like the idea has never been done before anyway...

* i did up the contrast a bit so i could get the effect I wanted my freaking eraser wouldn't let me get...

I think you should be happy with how this turned out.
I like all the details there are, but they aren't to crowded (not the right word but whatever), and I love how you did the background. I tend to do similar things with may backgrounds when I don't want to distract from the best part.
