Here's fan-favorite background pony Lyra playing a harp on stage.This piece was done as an art trade with Baschfire in exchange for a kickin' custom ringtone he made for me
I'm a few months late on my end of the deal, but I think it worked out all right.The lighting techniques are new ground for me. Additionally, I AM NEVER (willingly) DRAWING A HARP AGAIN. And yes, I know the foot pedals on the harp are missing. I just felt like they'd ruin the aesthetic :\

Good question! I believe Baschfire has the answer. He wrote a piece by the same name and asked me to do the accompanying image for his YouTube video.

I've listened to the piece, which is most beautiful and, accompanied by your image, makes the scene with Lyra playing on stage almost tangible. He does give an explanation of the name, but I can't say, given his comments, that I entirely believe him.

I've just taken another look at the video. Its full name is "In Memory of Broken Heartstrings", and in the description, he says the following: Broken Heartstrings? Yep, Heartstrings suck, Lyra for life.
Heartstrings was the name that the character was given originally in Hasbro's My Little Pony toy line. However, bronies had already been using the name Lyra for the background pony in the TV show, and thought it was the more aesthetically pleasing, so as a compromise, they decided that Heartstrings was her last name, making her full name "Lyra Heartstrings". Eventually, Hasbro caught on and this design (turquoise, blue-and-white mane, harp cutie mark) has been called "Lyra Heartstrings" ever since.
Judging by what the composer put in his description, he prefers "Lyra" to "Heartstrings"; thus "Broken" Heartstrings, portraying his distaste for that name. I reckon that "in memory" is more of a reference to the song's contemplative and mournful nature.

Maybe I did get a little carried away, even beyond DA washing out the image when I uploaded. I had this image of glaring stage lights in my head when I did it! I also think of ponies as plastic...oops. Bad collector instinct, bad!

THIS IS AMAZING WENDY!!!
I'm absolutely in love with the lighting on this, but my only real complaint is that her colors seems a little bright. I don't think her coat would be that reflective, but at any rate, this is superb!
