Gunnm is the only manga I like, the sword on your drawing seems pretty like one in the manga. I advise you this manga, it's pretty awesome and there are only 9 volumes (I prefer short series, not like Dragon Ball or else with 52 volumes).

I guess it wasn't supposed to be mechanical, but it look mechanical in the ref pic,( w/c could be my mistake) and even if I have no idea how I should draw that mech thing (because it looks really weird and it makes it seem that she can't stretch her knees or something) I drew it anyway.. lol
