Description
Ideal democracy is wonderful in many ways, as is ideal communism. Reality, however, strips each political theory from its ideal conception. This is a political piece, commenting on the corruption of democracy by the hypocrisy of capitalism.

Reminds of Jasper Johns's work with the flag but with more chaotic lines. Lots of energy (and disillusionment) here.

At the end of the day its our own greed..all of us
(on this planet)
we just paint it to suit...call it capitalism Communism whatever its simply greed power & control
and the beauty is we dont know it
we have set it up so well
we are not responsible for it., it someone else's fault.
we have hoodwinked our selfs for far to long and to your journal comment
if we need a quantum leap in something
new, its the realization of the above.
instead we are all sliding further in to an abyss of paranoia and relinquished control because of our fears.
(and groups manipulating them)
but on the positive I think too
(Like some one posted)
there is a collective intelligence of humanity starting to truly think about us on this planet and starting to understand what we truly need to do.
Lastly we have this lovely make believe thing called credit..like lets all borrow from a potential future for the today...and the world come crashing down if they all call in their markers at the same time
putting it very simply I know but to me that really were its at
Anyway just my thoughts
the Art I think is Excellent
Although Id have a few more flags trapped behind those red bars

I know I myself can be pretty biased towards the U.S. I am sorry. But I do have wonderful American friends, and I have lived in California for six years, so I am not a total ignoramus, and judging the country without any knowledge.
I only used the American flag because it is the country that represents world power, democracy, and capitalism. You see what happens to the world when the U.S. economy starts shutting down? The rest of the world shuts down, too. I've lived in six different countries, and visited more, and the western ideas are infiltrating and influencing other cultures. I cannot walk down a street in Korea without seeing a Dunkin' Donuts or a Starbucks. In China, there's a McDonald's and a KFC on every corner. It's the influence the U.S. has over the world, and that's why I chose it to represent my thoughts in this piece.
I have a very patriotic American friend who would argue with me to death on the greatness of democracy and capitalism. And I'm not saying good things particularly happen in a communist country, because when I look at North Korea or the former USSR, that's not the case. My commentary was on the gradual decline of social and moral status of democracy and capitalism.

well that as it should be
that is what The USA has as part of its core..
your right to question,
your right to express your opinion
without fear..
which I totally agree with
but this does I think come with a price of doing it in a positive way.
(This sadly is why it goes so snafu and you end up with idiots burning flags cause they dont know how to express there dislikes or unhappiness with things in a positive constructive way..that actually may get things changed)
Yes I know you weren't us bashing or anything just making a statement with your art as to how you see things
I agree it is sad too and I think the whole worlds on a big decline at the moment in so many ways
violence and respect for people has just gone out the window in the western world
I think partly what makes it hard is that in essence you got the US serving two masters and finding that balance is the tricky thing.
so this duality makes it hard for not only us but US citizens too.
I do have US friends and love them dearly and I know how rocked they are by this last thing that happened ..actually hurting very badly from it
So true too of the USA it quivers and the world shakes.
I think this time its the US that took a big hit
and maybe this might be the wake up call to all of us
(star living with whats in the basket today..not of tomorrows)
Yes I do see your point on How many KFC etc are around the world but I would say partly that cause of us too...we know the food so are more liable to go their then try something different.
I know really your talking at a deeper level on the empire of $ that goes with it.
But partly it cause people really want it
Why China etc cannot afford to keep a close shop cause sooner or later there would be another revolution.
the would works on "demand and supply" so if its in demand it will be supplied for a $ regardless.
(illegal, legal or which country you live in, it dont matter..someone will be there to fill the demand)
Anyway just my thoughts on it
The art rocks and I agree with what you saying

not so much a fan of the title, but the qualities in the painting are very nice. The scratchiness says a lot.
