Description
The second installment of old Norse mythology sketches from 2007 that I recently unearthed from my bedroom~! |D This one is apparently the "chibi edition"...1. Thor with either Hugin or Munin, take your pick. xDD ... Thor you should not be allowed to be that innocently cute. :I
I mean really.
2. Loki and Thor. xD My favorite devious duo ever~

I once had this crazy notion that I was going to draw a group picture with chibi-fied versions of all the Norse gods and goddesses..... The image you see here is how far I got before I gave up. |'D I didn't even get close to halfway through, pfffffffft

I really should've atleast drawn Odin in there too, but I definitely lost my motivation by that point haha :'DDD ahhh well, nothin' says it won't happen in the future!

Hee. This totally goes against my mental images of some of them. Like..in my head? Heimdall is a really surly guy with ridiculously orange hair, Loki's got short orange hair OR long black hair... and Thor is a beefy blonde...

Haha yeah, I tend to go the unconventional route with a lot of these character designs~ XD
Though Thor is described as being a redhead in the myths, so that's where I got that detail from.

We all have our own ideas of the Asatru gods I guess.
I'm unfortunately not very well traversed in Norse mythology (though I like to think I know more than most, but not this much). Why does Freya hold cats in her arms? She's the goddess of love, beauty and fertility (my favourite after Thor in other words 
Also Iðunn is by far the cutest in this picture.
Why do you never draw Odin, btw? At least he's got to have an awesome great beard.

Hahaha, yeah that's typically what comes to mind when people think "Thor".
And Freya is holding cats because according to the myths, she has a chariot that's pulled by two cats.
And it's true, I don't draw Odin very often.... :/ I used to have some images in my gallery that I drew of him, but I put them into storage a long time ago during one of my gallery cleaning sprees. I really need to draw him more.... I think it's just that I always depict him wearing this really long cloak, and it's such a bitch to draw. XD Haha
Warning though, my version of him doesn't depict him as a bearded old man like everyone else does, since I'm trying to deviate from the traditional renderings and stereotypes for these guys.

Ehhh, there were a lot of pieces in my gallery from 2007 that I drew during a time when I was trying to settle into a particular style, and there were a lot of out-of-whack proportion issues and weirdness that just didn't look right.... So I took them out of my gallery because they looked way too outdated... xD

Ahhh, I might bring that deviation that had Freyr talking about sunfish out of storage soon... That one may be old, but it still looks decent enough... I actually found it in a folder on my computer the other day, opened it, and had a good laugh because Freyr and his sunfish was so amusing xDD

Astounding. Thor looks adorable in that first one, and the dynamic in the second it great. Loki really is pretty smiley, isn't he? And I love that group at the bottom. But...what's with Hermod's hat? Also, Bragi is LURVE. Speaking as a kid who's been reading since three, who wants to be a novelist, who idolizes all great writers, and who is an nglish Literature major...Bragi has ALWAYS been towards the top of my favorite gods list. <3

Yup, Loki's a smiley/smirky kind of guy. XD As for Hermods hat, I have no clue really; I've just always drawn him wearing that hat, ever since my first design of him XDD So, it kinda stuck.
Yaay, more love for Bragi! He's a cool guy, even though he doesn't show up in the myths very often, so I'm glad he has some fans!

Actually I think his hat was largely inspired by Link's hat in LoZ.... xDD I tend to think of it as a double-ended Link-hat with two bells.... xD I think the other piece of inspiration behind it was jester-like court hats.
Haha, I have a full-body pic of Bragi I drew for self-reference a while back... Maybe I'll post it someday or somethin'...
I should definitely draw more of him in the future.
