Description Clever title is not clever, but that is ok.
Finished this magical piece a few weeks ago after a close friend gave me a copy of Spider Gwen #1 for my birthday. I absolutely adored the cover, and the art style is both mature, and easy to replicate. Humor and reality also had me in love. For an alternate verse, it was easy to immerse. Also so weird to see some characters in the positions they are in, and who stays inherently evil.

All in all super enjoying it, and I made this piece for him as a thank you. Loved making the webbing into her initials.
Why does MJ have to be so mean!? I guess she's just jaded at this point. Poor dear.

Inspiration for this particular pose by Artgerm who absolutely nailed the attitude I wanted to portray in my version of Spider Gwen.

Thanks Roxy, it's much much appreciated!
I need practice with shines on leather or black latex, but HNGH it's so amazing when it comes out like you want it to! I love your take with leather pieces, it's one of the things I look forward to in your edgier style!

You are welcome!
And yes it's the most amazing feeling when it actually turns out to be just the way you wanted, it's such a sweet feeling

Oh and thank you so much, I am not really satisfied with how mine turns out, but I guess it's a matter of practice to find the right way to make it!

Took me a while but I wanted to comment on your fanart of Spider-Gwen.  She looks gorgeous and also powerful and daring (especially her eyes)!  Great coloring work and clean smooth lines.  Very well done!  You draw a fantastic Spider-Gwen.

When you wrote that you got Spider-Gwen #1.  Which one (the real #1 or the after Secret Wars #1)?

I recommend also getting "Edge of the Spider-Verse #2" as that was her debut issue (before her very own series was even giving the OK she appeared on that one shot comic and meant to be just that but her popularity plus the quality and interest was very high) but it's also called "Spider-Gwen #0" recently as it was re-released with the script added in the back).

I will say that certain writers can writer certain actions or characters well and not so well with other things or characters.  Plus "shipping" or Character A vs Character B can also come into play with writers themselves and that can hurt/ruin some things per comic series.  I've read issues where I know the writer prefers MJ over all others thus MJ is treated like she can "do no wrong" (even if she does) but the others are "not right, horrible, mean, ect" then I read issues where MJ isn't the writer's favorite thus she comes off negative.

Thus it's less about the characters and more on who is the writer.
For me Bendis gives off a vibe that he is clearly a MJ fan and believes that only Peter and MJ belong together (thus all other relationships must fall or is wrong for him somehow) and MJ gets away with some questionable actions and reactions but I found myself not liking MJ when Bendis writers her concerning relationship wise and usually constantly has MJ complaining and blaming others all the time to my annoyance.  Example is when Ultimate MJ blames and punches Kitty Pride (a former girlfriend of Peter's that they both burned badly) when something bad happened to her that Kitty didn't have anything to do with.
Gwen of 616 got it bad when she was written to be unfaithful and had sexy with NORMAN OSBORN in "Sins Past" (Sins Past and One More Day is considered that worst storylines in Spider-Man history for many fans).

I love however works where it showcases their friendship and the writer either doesn't favor one over the other or is able to not let his/her favoritism hurt characterization and story for the two gals and every other female character in the story or love interest potential.  "Spider-man: Blue" was such a story and is considered one of the better/best Spider-man storys.  One that in the end showed MJ and Gwen's friendship while also love rivals for Peter's attention and how Gwen's death affected MJ as much as Peter.

For current Earth-65 MJ version of that world and in comparison to other MJs in the Multiverse I've read better but I also read worse things involving different version MJs.  Soon we will have more of the Mary Janes in Gwen's life after the Spider-Women event is done.  Will see how MJ is written and maybe why is it the way she acts with character developments and a bio like how the others have had a bio at the end of every issue in Spider-Gwen since it's return from hiatus because of the Secret Wars.

Thank you for the compliment on her, I was really proud of it - and I'll be attempting more in the future.

Upon second look - I actually have "Most Wanted?" with a piece on the inside saying "Edge of SpiderVerse 2" You'll have to forgive that I'm pretty unversed in the realm of comic books. I find it very tangly sometimes to keep up with all the different versions.

You definitely have a lot of references to go with when it comes to the Gwen-verse, which is handy should I ever have a question I can't find the answer to, if that's ok with you. I figured that different writers have different ways they portray the same character, as I know MJ to be very sweet in some series, and kind of cocky in others. It really just depends on who is doing it. I almost liked that she was a jerk in this one because her angry attitude about being ditched seemed more real, more bitter, especially if she'd been close to Peter. Sounds a lot like a person who can't deal with their abandonment issues.

I do like how you describe issue Blue though, and that more often those are the type of relationships I'd like to see vs. black and white, hate jealousy, relationships. Real life usually isn't that clear cut, and if it is, usually women are being petty about it. Of course we get celebrated for putting down another "biotch" but I really don't think that's the way rivalries should be handled. Decide to make your move or step back.

I'll be honest, I don't spend a lot on comic books as A) I don't typically have the space and B) I find it difficult and expensive to keep up with. I like Spider Man and now Spider Gwen a lot, but I don't know if it's a fandom I will fully invest in. Money is tight as it is, so I'll happily enjoy the rest from the sidelines for the moment. c: Thanks for your input and I can tell you're a huge fan of the whole verse! C:

The detailing on the webbing is really nice, must've taken some patience and planning. I just love her expression, very confident. Haven't read this series, but it Spider Gwen looks really cool.

Thank you! It did take a little patience, but mostly a lot of flicking the pen to give the web that frayed but tough look. Kind of like stippling, you just have to be determined to finish what you started. Spider Gwen I've found is about as much fun as Peter Parker, and has an edge of her own that he didn't. I find her really fun, and her quips are just as canny but endearing.

oh wow! this looks amazing Miffix!, I love the overall style it is drawn in and the pose too!! . as for suggestions on black clothing? sometimes I find it helps knowing or having an idea as to what fabric the clothing is made from and how it would reflect light. don't know if that's very helpful D;

Miffix In reply to queenmoreta [2016-04-26 16:39:51 +0000 UTC]

Thanks Moreta! The pose is a typical one for Stacy but I can't help but love it nonetheless! I gather gobs of reference on black clothing but I still have a ways to go. I think it's passable here, but a little too symmetrical.... I can't help it I like symmetry XD;; But it is helpful, as I didn't go through my references before doing this piece.
