Command Chimera for my Command Squad.I always wanted to have some diffrent vehicle for HQ. The idea for this vehicle is very simple. Cut off the roof, place some VOX bits inside, command table and make custom turret (which have been damaged already - magnet holding it fell inside of hull. Now the turret after quick fix is aimig a little up, will live with that)
Again tabletop standard for painting, and as my standard - any vehicle I use must be a little worn off.
This idea of vehicle is very liked by my coleagues, it makes enemies a little bit angry when measuring my meltas range. (I lost the hatch, now measuring from center of hull).
From the rest parts of hull im building a wreck marker, very needed with my luck for bad cover rolls.

Very cool. Playng aginst it, I wouldn't much mind about it being modelled open-topped. Considering its only AV12 on the front, and Side and Read AV is 10, its not going to matter much.
I will say that the turret looks a bit scrappy, and would probably benefit from being redoneto something similar to the standard Chimera turret.
The painting is excellent quality.

Turret have best times behind it I must say - all holding for magnet fell inside. I would need to open finished model to get inside, clean and fix the holding for magnet. I choosen lesser evil option and leave Turret - which I like! - aiming a little up.
And you, infidel say its only '12? only 10? Its tough armor to break and palyed well you won't see its side clear for shoot.

With old rules all Chimeras was open top vehicle.
If we would keep on WYSWIG rules you can argue about open top of this vehicle.
If we go with Codex rules its not. They just have very nice point of view from transport bay.

Chimera transports would only be treated as open-topped if units inside are using weapons out of the hatches. In addition, you're missing the six lasguns that allow occupants to fire out of the vehicle without the vehicle becoming open-topped.
As it is, this is an improvised salamander command vehicle with a multilaser instead of the usual heavy flamer or heavy bolter up top. The turret definitely looks nice though, and the least I'd suggest is that you should build extra turrets with different weaponry (heavy bolter, heavy flamer, autocannon) to swap out.

From experience I say - nothing is better than Multi Laser on turret.
Normally Chimeras have magnetized weaponry (this one have hull Heavy Bolter on magnet to exchange for flamer). But I never in entire history of mine gameplay have anything else on turret than M. Laser.
And you are right - it was open topped when firing - in last edition of codex. Now its not, good for us.

Still i have weapons of Chimera - counts as Chimera.
