OMG this is SPECTACULAR!!!!!!!!WOW I LOVE THE DETAIL IN THIS DRAGON PIECE. IT LOOKS SO REAL TO ME ANYWAY. I COULD NEVER DRAW FREEHAND LIKE THAT, I WOULD HAVE TO LOOK AT AN IMAGE FIRST. AWSOME JOB!!!!!!!

To be honest I hated this one at first, I couldn't get them darker shadows deep enough. After a while I realized that I might need a softer pencil for it but by then I had already worked the paper so hard that it didn't set in correctly. Had to spend a very long time to make it right without tearing the paper to shreds

This is amazing How do u shade ur drawings? it looks a lot better than the cross-hatching technique i use...

I draw the shades not unlike cross- hatching but I use a much lighter pressure. As with everything else I paint and draw I'm very careful and meticulous when doing it, going for the clean soft tones in the details. How well you succeed with a drawing is depending on your patience. When I draw or paint I go from area to area in the motif so if I'm working on a small detail like the dragon's tounge for instance then that area is the whole picture at that moment even though I've already drawn up other parts of it. Nothing else in the whole pic matters when I'm working on a specific area since I focus everything on that spot working on when I draw it, the area becomes a small drawing or painting in itself. Later when I've finished the other parts of the drawing it becomes a whole in my eyes. This is how I've managed my more detailed artwork, like the "Last Stand"- pic for instance. I start out with a full rough or sketch and then I work my way from there finishing whatever area I'm on at the moment and so on.

Yep, it does but it's worth it when I see the result ( if it's a good pic that is. If it's a crappy pic no technique in the world can save it )
