“What I need for you to do is to take down your progenitor.”

Michael stares at the floating pokemon extremely skeptically for a moment, unsure if she actually understood the request correctly.

“You want me to beat that vulpix?” she asks.

“Defeat? No, of course not,” they actually take a moment to laugh at the suggestion, causing Michael to pull her ears back at the offense. “All things considered you stand even less of a chance of winning a fight against her now than when you met her the first time. She’s just way too far out of your league for that. Maybe if you had a means to basically train nonstop for about two years straight you might be able to take her on as she is now. But thankfully, I don’t actually need you to win a fight against her. You don’t need to even fight her at all, to be perfectly honest.”

“I don’t understand.”

“There’s a reason why your subordinate is not necessary but you are. She’s heading towards something. Something no one would fault her for doing and many would actually applaud her for doing. It is a justified good that she will be trying to do and if things are left unchanged she’ll succeed at that task. That is where you come in. You need to stop her from succeeding at that task. You’ll get one chance to block her way.”
