A storyboard I had to do for one of my subjects lol. The tutor didnt really want line drawings, he wanted tonal stuff lol. But since anime is the only thing I can do...I kinda went against his will
I was gonna shade it with tone, but I started and finished this like the night before it was due in XD; so kinda ran out of time lol...
The drawings get more and more budget as it goes along LOL!!! And I didnt actually finish all the scenes in the story...Im thinking...mabye another 4 tiles to go? XD; Cant be bothered...

These are excellent drawings, this is the kind of thoroughness I like to have in a storyboard.
Perhaps you could clear up some confusion I've had in regard to storyboarding in general. I get mixed messages from tutorials, students and even teachers. Some people say, that they need to be extra rough, spending no more than 20 seconds on each drawing, it has to be fast FAST! Those people always draw these really rough shitty ones, but then I come across ones like this, which have shit loads of detail, and look like they'd take at least a minute, to five mins each, even for someone really fast.
Are the speedy ones for people starting out, and the crazy ones, for people who are pros like you? Or can you actually draw these in 30 seconds? I'm trying to make my portfolio, and it has to be pimp. I'm totally confused as to what they want at this point. If you could toss me some tips, that'd be really awesome. I have two storyboards, one simple, the other complex. Which should I go with to get in?

Hey man, first off sorry for the late reply lol. I've been meaning to reply for a few days now but have been busy to.
Anyways, with regards to ur question. This is what I think.
It sort of depends on whether your role is solely "the storyboarder", or whether you're just storyboarding like roughly for yourself. Also depends on the situation your storyboard is being used for. And skill level in drawing is definately a contribution too.
If you're working in a group per se, and your job is to storyboard for the group. Then please have your storyboard up to a moderate quality visually. You should also draw at a pace not too fast and not too slow, remember to incorporate a moderate level of detail, especially emphasis on actions that are occuring within the frame. Each frame should look moderate and I'd say take no longer than 5minutes. Because you have to weigh the level of detail you wanna draw into each frame vs the amount of frames you wanna draw. Sometimes certain actions should just take up a few frames rather than a single really detailed but cluttered frame. Remember tho, dont spend too long, spend too long and ur team will be like wtf. Keep in mind that the storyboard is just a product of planning, so what it should really have more of is information rather than look aesthetically pleasing.
But anyways, to the given scenario here that you present. You're handing it in as a job portfolio right? Then imo spend as much time as you need LOL. Cause what the employers are gonna see first up is the quality. Even if they say otherwise, its like the most stand out point of a storyboard if you were just taking a first glance at it. Don't spend so long that when they ask you how long you spent you hesitate to tell them it took like 30min per frame tho lol.

Haha np, thing with this stuff is like, theres no definate answer in most cases. Its all opinion based. Different people will tell you differently, whats best and whats not. You just have to gather all the info, and do what you think is the best. That becomes your own direction and you stick to it, until somebody comes by and proves you utterly wrong and just like out rationalises your method in everyway...then you change LOL

wow, i'm amazed to see how good you are at drawing panels and it's content, i mean most people i know lose much of it's abilities when they draw comics (i mean they are better at pinups and such) but yours look as good as your elaborated pics
