Each giant glassy bubble on mushroom caps is a massive observatory skylight.

Round shroom to the right contains some kind of energy source (perhaps - a cold fusion reactor) and few water pumps.

Pink lighting are parts of shrooms surface that glow with low-intensity pink. The only purpose is decorative - xenos think it's fancy color scheme.
