Description Wow, my doodles actually qualify as "work" now? Holy shiz. D: Idk how yo feel about that!

But yeah. Right now I'm keen on the idea of making my final film with Heero. Idk what the story will be since it's around 2mins, but I'm getting some possible ideas. c:

I've been practicing some poses and while it still is a battle to get them to look okay, I think I'm getting the hang of it. Those books on poses I got really helps. I only referenced the running and the jumping poses from a book, the rest are just me. Also I've been trying to simplify my style since animation in general is hard. Human animation... I don't even know how this will turn out. Wish me luck. :'I

Well why wouldn't your work qualify as work? They are fantastic and good for experience. Quite purty and magnificent too....

You have been wished well! I don't doubt if you set your mind to it you will impress your viewers. Professional and all.

Because I don't show the other stuff to my tutors nor do I get graded on it. :u
This I am getting graded on tho so thus it qualifies lol.

Aha, I'm hoping so. Animation is pretty difficult I learned. I don't enjoy it too much. Kinda think I would indeed be better off drawing comic art since getting a pose might be hard but doable. :u Animating it is like a whole different story. So yeah, I need all the luck I can get. xD I got my rp buddy talking about DB in general so hopefully that will keep me driven for the most part and maybe we'll end up with some good development along the way. |D Win-win in a way.

Is it only certain projects you turn in? It wouldn't be possible to just show them all your fabulous stuff right?

Well that is good! Whatever helps you out. So what are you working towards getting a degree in? I don't think I've asked before... I may have...

Unless its while showing a professional portfolio... No. :u Unfortunately aha. I wish I could be graded on doodles and shiz. Saying you do commissions has a merit, but it doesnt really effect your grade. You gotta follow a criteria to be graded properly. Can't throw in random shiz and expect to ace anything aha. Art aint that simple.

Animation aha. I mentioned it so many times in my rants. |D Mostly in artist comments.

I can see that. I always considered art a difficult subject to teach because of the individual style of so many people. I guarantee that your style is unique to the whole class, are you taught different styles or methods or is the class just preparing you to draw just about anything through your own methods?

I thought so, just the way you regarded animation it sounds like you don't enjoy it so much, "Β Animation is pretty difficult I learned. I don't enjoy it too much.Β "
Are there other degrees in something you would have liked more or is this still your best option?Β
(I'm just curious, if I am getting to personal you can shove me off.)

Haaaa, that's implying there's anything useful being taught. No, we're not taught anything about styles etc. They just kinda throw pointless things at us and see how we go about it I guess.

Yeeah, this course kinda put me off animation due to it's lack of actually teaching us much about it. Most of the projects required 'abstract' stuff and I really dont like that. I want to do character related things like the Character Performance project we had. The one I used Jarret for. It was hard but we SHOULD of focused more on that. Feels like money down the drain honestly.
And it's kinda too late to back out, I went through 2 years of this misery so this year I'll atleast get to do what I like all year. I just kinda fear I've really burned out with all the pointlessness.
But yes, after this I want to go into sequential art. So... comic stuff. I got the Art Academy in San Fransisco (I believe) in mind, they seem to teach some cool stuff. Aha

I was wondering that! Sorry I have never been in an art class and don't plan to, just wanted to hear a tad of your experience.

That is pretty lackluster... sorry to hear that as well but, hey, you're about to get an animation degree (just do well on your project, GOO HERRO!!)!
But I suppose your time there can make you look impressive and have a higher chance of being admitted. Every bit counts.
And I know you mentioned this but you thinks it's time to come ovah here eh? To this side o' the pond? We got Disney.

AND by the way, I can COMPLETELY imagine your work in comics and the day I see that, would be amazing.

Yeah, teaching art is not an easy task since it requires academic approaching. It goes just as well as you might think, in that it doesnt. But yeah. Gotta write essays and shiz because of that and follow the criteria if we want to be graded. It's a pain.

Yeah, too bad that degree most likely won't matter much. :u Our uni when bankrupt. We had to merge with another so all these changes are very annoying. And idk how much merit a degree from a bankrupt uni will hold. I'm hoping I just don't get laughed out the future job interviews. :I

Pfffft, I wish. xD One day. If I can. I need a shiz load of things to stay in the US, as well as work. Need a green card and shiz, so I'm hoping to enroll on that course and go from there. I'll probably end up doing an online course with them first tho. Might give me a better chance to get accepted there in person after. (also, with the whole 3D boom and their money grabbing ways and harsh work environments I will most likely never go to Disney. :I If only they still did 2D... too little too late I guess. I will try doing an internship with them and Warner Bros too)

I can hope. xD I should really make a start to have something on my portfolio. But not this year. I'm hoping for a gap year after this to learn some software and grind my skills. Work on a series as well. So yeah, hopefully I'll be making a start next year. xD

Agreed. Another reason I don't want to take art. I know it helps, with form and all depending on what you do, but I want to learn to draw what I want on my own with my own style. No matter how long that takes. Will make whatever I do more unique! Perhaps no less painful to look at but still cool!

OH bahh... better than nothing though. And if you are going to finish this class you'll have SOME evidence and that is worth SOMETHING.
But that makes more sense, an online course sounds like a good idea till things are easier to work out.
True, Disney is moving to 3D now aren't they? I want to see another 2D film sometime soon. I suppose one could look to their TV shows, those still have plenty of 2D animation and aren't as intimidating to work on I am sure. But again, whatever you have in mind! I am just wondering and throwing out my uneducated opinion on the matter at you.
Have a nice year!

Yuup. Art is kinda better when its self-taught. Otherwise you get your head filled with useless information. Like.. I can't even think of 3 things I got out of the course that I couldnt of learned without it. Yeeah... Just gimme the damn piece of paper and let me go home.

Β Thing is it's mostly about money. They can make 3D movies for cheaper than they would 2D and get rich faster. It's kinda disheartening since I grew up on Disney and it was one of my starting points. But yeah, life sucks sometimes. :I sigh. I guess I just kinda missed the 2D train.

|D pfft

That is a bit sad... practice?

I can see that. Sorry, have you ever looked at 3D animation? Would that interest you? Although I can see they are two very different things so you might not. I hope you find something you can use your amazing skills in, be it Disney, Warner Bros. or elsewhere.

Not really aha. I might have to learn it but 3D stuff doesnt interest me in the slightest. xD The only thing Id really use it for is for modeling and pose references if I can. maybe one day lol.
