And is it a good program? I am thinking about switching drawing programs.

I think so. I find it easier to blend colors in SAI compared to photoshop...and the tools are less technical. It has this traditional feel to it.

I use GIMP, but I am thinking of changing since of the pixelated looking lines and such.

sai can make pixelated lines too if the canvas was saved into a JPEG or PNG file that is small in size. The resolution should also be higher. I used 300 resolution on this one. SAI can make softer lines for linearts IMO

Thank you for adding it to your faves *w*
I tried a new style actually...I decided to experiment and didn't go by my usual process of sketching-lineart-basecoat-shading. I sketched this one and skipped the lineart parts and played with the luminosity and overlay.Β

I see! Well, you did a very good job then! I really like how you outlined her face shape without actually using a lineart. And that you did different light colours on hair instead of only so usual lighter-than-the-hair-itself. I believe there's a lot of fun to do around hair - not only fancy hairstyles and shading, but also different colours and shades of the actual hair. I mean, it never has just one colour, right? A redhead in fact has different shades of ginger, and brown even... Ha, I am a light blonde but I can recall quite a number of times when I found a hair that was literally dark brown!
...and I'm blabbering this all to a stranger Sorry! Nice to meet you, by the way. There. We are not complete strangers anymore X3

*feeling acknowledged and appreciated* LOL I like painting hairs..because I get to play with colors!Β I have still have to learn how to make them shinier though O3OΒ I totally agree. I have black hair but it has shades ofΒ dark brown even maroon...and I had never had it dyed even once! LOL
Nice to meet you too ^_^

My major problem with hair is that I can't always make it look natural when it moves .__. And I'm a complete failure when it comes to curls. *facepalm* I don't think hair you draw should be much shinier. I mean, it doesn't shine very much in nature, does it? Maybe in hair paint TV spots I think the key of drawing hair well is to shade them in a way that'd make them look like strands indeed and not a solid mass that was put on one's head for some reason! And you do this pretty well.
Hey, I haven't ever dyed my hair, too! High five!

I also don't know how to do that...like making the hair look as if it's caught on the moment it moves. I really should look at stock images for that O3O

That's a good point. Do you know any good dA accounts or groups that focus on doing stocks? I need MUCH references. Each single time I draw I can't stop considering it a failure =__=
