Oh god… I have experienced the same situation.
Whenever I draw and someone comes up to me and says my art looks like
pokemon, bakuyga or anime/manga I feel like screaming on the inside.
I try so freaking hard to make up my own style and this is what I get.
I don't even know where they get the idea. It bothers me a lot.
Does not matter if it is realistic or simple cartoon-like drawing. Everything seems the same to them.
And really… When I hear manga or anime I feel ashamed. Cause they literally suck at drawing animals.
Only the humans seems to be detailed, but the animals.. They don't even give shit about the animals.
Give it a nose, paws, black eyes and fluffy ears. PFFFF… T_T

I know what you mean, ther anatomy is so off sometimes in anime.
In high quality anime you see nice animals and beautiful backgrounds but the commen anime looks kinda crappy.
