Description
The white mixture frothed as the otter pokemon lowered the glass from his lips, movements almost synchronized with the bartender's, his glass filled with a darker, moorish beer. The two shared a relaxed "ahhhhh-", gullets refreshed by their respective beverages."I'm surprised this isn't alcoholic, with how much of that you throw back" the dewott observed, licking the somewhat sticky residue around his mouth as he eyed up the barman in front of him.
"I'm surprised you're not drunk anyway with how much of that you drink" He quipped back, a wry smile chuckling at the nonsensical statement as he turned to face the bar again. His slick tail followed the movement, the two large shark fins that adorned the end of it curling up briefly before relaxing back down, thick tail still making a thud despite how gently it fell to the floor.
Outside of the small tiki bar, the moonlight shimmered on the rippling waves that lapped the beach. The bartender hummed, tempted by the water. Most of the beach-goers had gone home by now, but a few were still taking one last midnight dash into the sea, and he was considering joining them. His tail swished the floor behind the bar slowly as he thought, the heavy appendage making a slight "thud" as it slowly slapped the cupboards behind.
"So, good swim?" The bartender asked the question with his head tilted, looking for an excuse to slack off.
"Oh, yeah. Some fun currents today!" The otter-esque being chattered, Mod's head bobbed in agreement as he listened, inviting more.
"You'd have liked some of the girls out there too... "
The dewott smiled upon seeing the half-shark's reaction, the way his head snapped up to look at the beach again almost comic, neck craning to try and get a better view in the darkness. His tail also changed motion, going from a swishing action along the floor, to quickly thumping against it, the end flicking up and down habitually in excitement.
"Hey, Mod"
"What?"
Dreeda looked around the counter, casually observing the floor behind where the bartender was stood.
"Your tail's doing that thing again"
"What thing?"
"That thing that you do when you're trying not to show you're excited."
"It is not"
The pair paused, and in the moment of silence the only thing that punctured the background noise was the steady thud of a certain bartender's heavy tail strumming against the ground.
Mod looked behind at his rouge appendage, which prompted a laugh from the dewott.
"dude just wag it normally like everyone else"
Mod barred his teeth.
"Okay first off, I can't help it, secondly, only mammals do that whole wagging thing, and third, if they're good enough for you to mention, maybe I should go out there and get my fins wet, if you see what I mean. "
Dreeda absolutely saw what he meant, a giggle escaping his mouth.
"Oh, that'd be a shame if you weren't here though... I told them that they should swing by here after for a drink. Would be a shame if you'd gone for a swim instead"
"What?"
"I told them that there's a really cute bartender too"
Mod smiled at the otter, tail thumping heavier and faster on the floor.
"Dree I'd kiss you but you'd like it too much"
"Yeah, I know"
Turning to the mirror behind the bar, the dragon hybrid grinned at his own reflection, showing off his sharp smile as he ran a paw through the hair on his head to bring the tips out and make it just that little bit messy looking. His feline ears flicked as he did, and he quickly ran the paw over both of them, brushing the fur with the hard black claws that extended from them. Smug, but not too much.
His gaze returned to the beach, watching lazily as the moon reflected in the water, the regular patterns it made in the waves occasionally broken by a swimmer or the fin of some creature just under the water.
As he peered out, the unmistakable silluette of a dorsel fin breeched the surface of the water, heading for the shore line. His ears pricked up, alert as the fin grew closer, snout slightly raised and sniffing the air habitually. A second later, the owner of the fin emerged, a small-ish looking anthromorphic female shark practically flying from the water as propelled by the thick tail protruding from just above her buttocks. She landed two footed, shaking her head to clear the water from her hair, giving it a frizzed, somewhat wild appearance.
Dreeda noticed the change of focus of his barkeep, and turned to look too.
"She's got your colors, too" he noted. He was almost right, too, the female appearing navy or dark-blue in the light, a bi-tone that got lighter on her stomach much like the watching male. The dark colors were broken up only by her swimsuit, an orange two-piece that covered enough to be modest, whilst still being fairly revealing. She also had a freckled pattern, like mod, though hers was brighter opposed to darker
The bartender's pulse rose as, after flicking the water free from her hair, Β her eyes settled on the shack, pausing before she advanced towards it, footpaws curling in the sand.
"Dude, your tail" Dreeda pointed out, trying to help his friend from looking too excited since his rear limb had once again started noisily patting the floor of the bar. He took note, silently wedging the tip of his tail under a cupboard, his facial expression at least doing a good job of looking not-too-thrilled for his next customer.
As she stepped a foot into the hut, he greeted her with his typical somewhat awkward charm, trying to not look too threatening despite the array of sharp teeth that were inadvertently revealed whenever he grinned. As she got closer, he noticed the sway of her hips, unable to not notice her plush thighs pushing at her bottom piece.
"Cold water?" He smiled, raising a singular eyebrow as she walked over and plonked herself down on one of the swing-seats next to his other aquatic patron.
"Actually I was looking for a beer" Her voice was slightly panted, eluding to the intensity of her prior swim, but still sweet sounding, a refreshing change in the mostly masculine sounding bar. All the same, he noticed her looking up and down his form as she spoke, her eyes addressing his features until they settled on his.
"I was on about out there, actually... But if you're wanting a refreshing drink, I've got lots to offer" He winked at his otter patron, prompting him to squeak. Her attention briefly went to him, before looking back to the larger dragon-shark.
"So... What can you offer me?" The way she said "you" sounded almost accusing, as if she already had an inkling of what the larger male had to offer. Her narrowed eyes and somewhat seductive gaze only aided this, and Mod lent back, pointing at the bottles and casks as he went over them, the names making various degrees of groan-inducing puns.
"We've got... Slippery Otter, The Yeah Bouy, Crispy Cectan, Judy Hopps, Null Island, View to a Krill, Batty Ale, Eye Pea Ey... Or the House special, The Dragon Ale~"
