this is so funny, ms mika, and masterfully drawn as always. your ability to craft memorable personalities with minimal dialogue and action never fails to astound me! i can easily hear Xailan's and Alika's voices in my head as if i was in the room with them (hiding behind one of those benches for fear of collateral damage) -- from the imperious tone of Xailan as she informs Alika that knights can't move that way, to Alika's testy response that it wasn't HER idea to have a chess match in the first place. and the poses are so lively -- i absolutely adore the second-to-last panel especially, with alika's "HMPH" fists-on-hips stance. the emphatic HUZZAH got me good, too! XD i have to wonder what the rules of chess must be like where Alika comes from, and Mika Mouse should be more careful with her enunciation in the future (though this outcome is honestly more entertaining than the alternative).
