So this is kind of my final homage to Eleven and River. I don't know if Moffat will ever bring her back, but even if he did, it wouldn't be the same without the floppy-haired cutie.
Also, I feel like the fact that River gave him all of her extra regenerations probably played a role in the fact that he was able to regenerate again into Peter Capaldi, but that's just an opinion.This idea has been rolling around in my head for a while now, but I haven't had a lot of extra time.

That is gorgeous. I love their expressions. The Doctor looks like he's daydreaming about River. And she looks like she's swished in and gone away. To meet again in another life.

Love this! No, Moffat is not bringing her back no matter that Alex has pleaded to return. She even pointed out that she held back in her performance with Smith's doctor because he's not River's Doctor; instead she'd show the full passion of River and her Doctor with someone like Twelve. So instead, we'll never get to see River "unleashed" or any of the other plans Alex had for River. 
And after all, Matt's Doctor did nothing for River after she died. Didn't mourn her until NOTD and then was over it. Didn't mourn her in Snowmen (they stated he mourns Amy), didn't keep a memento of her (he keeps Amy's glasses) not even her diary or his own, told no one about her, refused to say goodbye, and immediately got over her. Compare that to Ten and Rose who he mourned forever, told everyone about her, and blew up a sun to say goodbye to her even though it hurt badly. It's like one article said: you'd think the woman who should mean the most is instead the one he wants nothing to do with. So it would have been nice to see Twelve undo that damage.
Then they stole away everything that made her special: knowing his name (they said it was pointless and that she forced him to), her intelligence (Moffat said snapping your fingers to open the door is like a "bluetooth" connection; Clara was smart enough to figure it out. That makes her smarter than River who couldn't figure it out and the Tardis refused to teach her it.) Her flying the Tardis: Tasha Lem said it was easy. Not special. Even her family kicked her out. Sad.
BTW: River didn't give him her regenerations. LKH stated she used them, she didn't transfer them. He was dead, every cell destroyed including brain and hearts. It took that full energy to bring him back and put him in full health with no damage. So it's the difference between using a defibrillator on a living patient and bringing someone back when they've been dead several minutes & trying to avoid brain damage. Takes a lot more effort.
