Description
Got it in my head to try an make some ancient & occult-looking amulets / talismans / charms, and this is the result of my first try. I was going for a 'Mike Mignola / Hellboy in real life' style, and I feel moderately close to that.Made of Aves Apoxie Sculpt (a two-part epoxy clay modeling compound), approximately 40 x 40 mm. Painted with an Angelus metallic gold acrylic paint I had handy, and given multiple washes of various acrylic paints and some fine-point ink pen detailing.
Learned a bit while making this: wait about an hour or more after mixing the Aves to let it harden to a more convenient stiffness for working, get some better 'tools' for sculpting, size is a bit too large, paint or prime in black before the metallic coat, and I should get some better string, and try to make a better wash.
I am strangely undaunted, and still want to try some more of these, once my new tools arrive in the mail. I also need to make a comparison piece, to see how smooth a surface I can get, and how that looks when painted. And I need to try out my metallic silver paint as well.
