I really like the way the mushroom caps and the orange-purplish contrast comes across as much more design than just illustration, really art nouveau. I don't know whether having the curvy webs down at the bottom was an intentional choice to frame the figure, but it definitely helps the nouveau look!

I wasn't consciously thinking art nouveau when I was drawing it, but I'm glad you like it!

Hmm, I love the piece but I'm not sure you can tuck leather armor into your pants, no matter how flexible.

Hehe, I'll comment with great pleasure! I really like how organic your lines and your figures are, especially as, if I remember correctly, you do your linework in Illustrator? I have no idea how you achieve this kind of result (lineweight, feathering that doesn't look dead) with this program, let alone the coloring. Now that I think of it, a description of your process/workflow would be very nice for a future piece. But I'm digressing, great work!

Ahh! A comment! Sweet. Thanks a lot jel. Yeah, the lines were done in Illustrator. I simply use the pen tool to outline shapes. I have two stroke weights - a thick line for outside shapes, and a thin line for inside shapes. Everything else, like details and organic shapes, is just drawn in with a thick-thin brush.
The colouring is done in photoshop. Lots of layers and some texture overlays. Nothing new there.

I usually block in the basic shapes in Illustrator. But yeah, totally coloured in photoshop if I'm going to do lots of blends, effects and textures.
