I dont exactly understand how woodcutting works, but even then I sure can appreciate the greatness of the picture, I love it, I've often had visualizations of these kinds of scenes in my head, with people pulling their skin off, or tearing it apart, but I was never able to actually draw or paint them, but you managed to do that perfectly!

Lock your children in a room, with no computer, no cellphone, no windows, and no door. That way nothing will offend their delicate sensibilities. Or you know...Talk to your kids about mature things? They have to learn some time.

When I was young my father didn't bother hiding this stuff from me. Because of that I have a healthy respect for the human body, I'm less squeamish, and I ask more mature questions. I try not to curse because it holds no meaning. Here's the thing, though, by making such things taboo your child will actively seek them out at a later date. If they see it, they might be frightened, but how about explaining that it's just a picture? There is nothing showing, which shouldn't matter to begin with, and has no reason to have a mature filter.
While I can understand you belief's on such a topic, I feel that children are uselessly sheltered from a lot of things and thus are overwhelmed by them later. Especially when they're hit by a wall of hyper-sexualization and things that make them want to fit a stereotype.

That would be your problem for browsing a site like this with them around, not the artist's for not including a mature tag. The mature filters are to be used only when the artist or dA administrators decide they're necessary, not when someone says they don't like their kids seeing it. If you have a problem with the things on this site, I recommend you find a different one with works more age appropriate for your children's delicate minds.

Oh dear lord. This is also the internet if you haven't figured that much out. It doesn't follow the same rules. -face palms- if you're worried about your kids wait to look at this site later when, you know they're a sleep. I let my little sister watch me surf this site and she's 4, and I look through scary stuff. And this site is wonderful, it shouldn't change over one dude's complaints over something so petty as this.Β

This is beautiful, thought provoking art. It is well done and emotional.
I keep my kids in the room with me too, but honestly, if you don't want them seeing things, just don't look at them.
I don't think this needs a mature filter at all. It doesn't show any genitals, blood or body fluids. If you scroll to something like this with your kids in the room, just scroll away quickly, and maybe bookmark it for later if you really are interested.
It is selfish to think that a 13+ rated site should cater to 3 year old children who shouldn't have access/be able to view it.
That is your job.

This isn't exactly abstract, and there is no gore, the stuff under the skin looks basically like black-white skin. It is very minor amount of morbid, but that is the point. Its supposed to make you think and feel.
People and world events are 10x darker and more horrible than this, have you looked at the world lately? With so much actual destruction of life and the decline in humanity as a whole, how can you even justify getting upset over something as minor as art...
