Description
Sadly he was born a boy and not a girl so he will not rule...Queen Weira and her first born son, Prince Phobos~
In the comics we only see Elyon as a baby and Phoby as a 5-6 years old child but I wanted to imagine that even though he was not the rightful heir to the throne because he lacked the "Light of Meridian", he was loved by his mother and hugged and kissed and cuddled and spoiled <333
Also I wanted to try out black & white composition and then adding color keys on overlayer (I need to practice more also I have no idea of how to draw babies, cribs and hands and everything rlly).

"...Then Elyon came along and ruined everything... "
I love this, it's very sweet I can really see the motherly love and affection in her expression

Haha indeed The darkest day in Phobos' life. I wonder if he ever held his baby sister (because of his own will and not forced to lol)
I'm glad you like it I am planning a short comic about the Escanors (mostly something about Phobos' childhood as in one way of how I imagine it)

Sadly yes, both in the comics and in the cartoon, only the first born girl inherits the light of Meridian (full powers) and right to the throne v.v
And I want to continue reading the comics as well for I stopped after arc 5 I read them here:

What if Phobos is not a child but a grown up man? I mean I never liked that in the comucs that show Phobos as a baby. I mean come on? An entire Meridian was conspiring to save a baby princess from her evil...5-year-old brother and an entire planet was isolated from the entire universe because of some evil...child? I hardly doubt it. Like you know I plan on making a fanfiction for it when I have time.
This is great picture nevertheless. Perhaps the Queen's face could be a little bit less round and smoother but then again...kings and queens tended to have...more pounds Really cute scene
Also Phobos was not the rightful heir because the throne of Meridian passes from Queen to Queen and they do not have an official King ruler. It is like it happened to Earth kingdoms that the eldest child of a royal family if it was a girl, would have no rights to the throne unless it got married to someone and then that someone would become the new King

First of all- sorry for the late reply...I had to take care of a lot of stuff lately But thank you for the comment!
I'm not sure...I like the fact that we got to see him as a baby for he was adorable and truly he didn't seem evil at all but with a great desire to possess whatever caught his attention, ambitious and well...drawn to shiny magical objects
I'm sure there is so much more about him we do not know and it made me even more intrigued about what dramatic -more or less- course of events made him change so much and take the "darker" path although even that one is questionable to me.
What unnerved me a little in the comics was the little age difference between him and Elyon...5-6 years?! That's truly a plot twist and...sort of error to me. In the cartoon even 13 years is quite exaggerated but at least he would have been able to plan a coup and possess stronger magical powers...that of course if he truly had them to begin with and...if he truly plotted against his mother. Then his bizarre affinity for energy he has plays a major and mysterious role. Quite an eerie ability to drain everything of its energy/life source. It is like taking one's soul if put in explicit words.
I'm not sure why but a nagging feeling inside me tells me that he was influenced by something else as well...he accumulated too much darkness from just (even if great) jealousy and anger against an unfair destiny. It is said that we are the ones to plant or awaken the seed of darkness in ourselves but then the black veil from outside starts to burst inside in order to grow along and take "shelter" and eventually...control of the host. It's like leaving an open window for anyone to enter even without our own will or consciousness. I believe we are all connected to this vast Universe and thus so we are all like channels of energy and this way we can gather/collect all sorts of information from fluxes of energy from outside...or even entities. If one has more control over themselves then they could sort this information and even build barriers against malevolent energies and thoughts but some might be unaware of these things and could expose themselves to a lot of danger. It doesn't have to be all so dramatic like in a horror movie. It could simply be like "Where did this odd thought come from?" but still, for some unknown reason to you, you decide to stick along with it because it seems the right thing to do (even if not) and given the awful events affecting your life...it looks like a solution or something. I'm not sure but maybe that's one of the possible causes for what happened to Phobos. Of course more detailed and complex.
I am very confused myself lately at my sudden change in behavior and mentality, for I am trying to be as open minded as possible but this leads to a lot of different opinions from so many angles about the same thing/topic and all are constructed in my mind with valuable arguments so I end up not knowing what to choose anymore. I can no longer blame anything and can no longer affirm that there is only 1 or max 2 things right. Everything spins around and I start to believe that maybe nothing is wrong at all, and yet everything is all so contradictory. Then, of course, comes the unhappiness of life and the tiring feeling of caring so much about everything because it is exhausting and for most of the time...worthless. And thus so, frustration comes in, unfulfilled desires and higher aspirations and anger on the fact that I cannot maintain myself positive and sometimes I let out negativity (even inside myself for outside I still try to suppress it as much as possible) and even if I do feel awful about it I still succumb lower and lower spiritually. Despite that I dream of higher states of mind and soul, I decay inside every single day. That's how I feel at least...and I started to wonder if maybe this is a little similar for what happened to Phobos as well? I am sorry for rambling about my weird perceptions but I realized that only after one is low they can understand the ones alike.
But of course it may not be all so complex anyway. It's just that I am trying to reach beyond animated frames or limited panels in a comic story. I feel like there has to be so much more beyond it and that what we were presented is just a summarize because it is incredibly hard to illustrate what one feels and thinks like deep inside.
I could talk a lot more about my theories (I have so many and quite different) but it would take a lot of time to write them all down here and this reply is already immense... ^^
Anyway, I'm looking forward to that fiction of yours and to know your theories. It's incredible how one character can connect people this way. If it weren't for Phobos I might have never had the chance to discuss ideas with you~

Don't worry my friend. As you see I am not faster sometimes
As a baby? We do not see him as a baby. Only as child (comics) and as younger (anime). Yes there is so much more about him...
Yes I believe too that much more time than that had passed.
Well Jealousy is enough I believe and also because he was so ambitious and yet he had no right to the throne that would be enough for him being ignored or thought as "useless" by his people exactly like females in Middle Ages were for the throne since they had no right to rule de facto. If Phobos believed he was pushed away without even being able to show his potential it could be like he thought "You wanted a monster? You'll get one!"
Don't worry. Take your time and think it over.
No worries I have tons of theories as well. I understand how you feel.
Thanks. I hope to get more inspiration in the future so I will have the chance to do it
Hahahaha! Yeah that sounds true enough!

It is said in the comics that only the first born girl inherits the strongest magical powers and "The Light of Meridian". The Queen nurtures the land and people with her spiritual energy I suppose. It is like a symbiosis with the planet. Without her, the world starts to fade apart (in one theory which was proved later on as Prince Phobos usurped the throne and only drained the planet of its energy and he turned it into a poor devastated land of gloominess. It is unsure where all the energy he absorbed went as he only grew weaker and weaker over the years.) Also it's uncertain if the previous princes (male heirs) inherited magical powers or Phobos was the only one.
Hope that cleared things up a little
