It's damn good but to be honest, I prefer the art style of the 'First attempt' over the final animation.

First attempt kinda looks better i think :'0
The animation is smoother :') it looks more anime-ish while the other one looks like 3D-ish and its like its made from "MMD" thingy
This is so cool doe quq

i like both. there's a charm in the 1st attempt from its pure 2d animation, but the 2nd attempt, I really like how the expressions came out, and there's a lot of charm in the extra movement you're able to do with the 3d that you didn't do in the first attempt. So great job! I basically agree with whatΒ Hikarisoul2 Β was saying Β
maybe experiment a bit more with the lighting in the 3d version to achieve that softer glow you have with the 2d version?Β

i think I like the first animation better. Cause it's 2D and that's a dying art apparently. looks good though

idd, but I think Mikeinel likes both 2d and 3d and wants to challenge him/herself in both.

The Final animation is great to be honest! movements looks natural and so does the face reaction/emotion. I also like how she flipped the book, it makes the ambiance and situation more natural. sure, it may not be as flashy, bright and grand like the first one... but the first one seems too stiff in movements and that is no. 1 con when you do a lot of rendering/focusing on the colors.Β
You may still actually see the huge difference that the 2nd one is more 3d unlike the first one but it is less obvious. Though the proportions of the 2nd one is much more precise, and i like their proportion on the final animation cause it makes them look very young and at their age.Β
Both has pros and cons, but obviously the Final gave me more impact. The more I watch the video, the more i look at my right than the left.Β
That's all I can say for now though. You did a great job.Β

I honestly don't know why people prefer the first attempt more. Sure, it's more "anime-like", but other than that it's very stiff and just lifeless. The final animation feels much more natural and finished. Hopefully you won't get discouraged and continue to improve! Great job!

the forst attempt is more fluid with organic shapes. Though I love your work regardless...long live gravity falls

Unfortunally, I have to agree with much pepole, something was lost in the final attempt.
The new one is more correct in terms of shapes and everything, so it is not a problem of quality in strict sense. But it loose some of the cartoonish effect, what make it a bit "flat" to the eye, compared to the original and first atempt's innocent feel and drawing curves. It is more a question of the new style being not as appropriate for this particular animation than the first attempt's one or anything really objective I guess.

I tend to agree more with what people are saying on YouTube. I like first attempt better.
While the new style is a great accomplishment, much of the 3D modeling animation quirksΒ
are showing through on the facial expressions and look disingenuous.
The line work on the first attempt is also MUCH thiner and looks more professional, as well as the
shading on the actual characters.
I would suggest sticking to the old style of animating facial expression.
Great job, nevertheless.

I much prefer the first attempt myself, it seemed more true to character and charming, the newest one however, while still goodly done is lacking a bit of heart, everything seems darker and robotic. I hope you don't take this wrong I mean no offense.

I think I like the first attempt more cause I like that more anime feel to it rather than 3d feel

elementiro [2016-02-29 21:47:50 +0000 UTC]
Personally I prefer the "First attempt". The animations and faces look better. On the final one you can see that it's based on 3d models (because it is, isn't it?), and you know, what is good for photorealistic style doesn't have to be good for cartoon-like style too. Lines on the older one also look kinda softer, better. If you're doing it because you like that style, you want to develop it, learn 3d modeling, etc. - it's fine. It's your art, your way, do what you want. But if you're doing it only because you want to show us your animations faster, more frequently - rethink your decision, please.

Felidacity [2016-02-29 19:56:06 +0000 UTC]
I would say that the perspective and style of the background in the second attempt looks much better
but the 2D style of the first attempt feels more natural and charming
The 3D is still good, though I feel the size disparity in the heads is what is the most off putting.
Amazing work either way, though! <3
