This painting perfectly captures both the menace and the general disgustingness of Clayface one of the most underused batman villains. The painter has managed to make the characters repulsive face look real as it struggles to hold together as the weight of the clay pulls down on it. It looks and feels like clay in the way it drops down over the cheek in a slimly way. The teeth add an extra element of fear to the monster giving a βsharkβ like quality to the design that works well. The spots of white paint give an extra element of moisture as this again helps give the impression of wet clay.
The background is also brilliantly done. The combination of greens, blacks and greys mixed together give an oily look of dirty water or even that of a sewer. It really does add to the piece and works perfectly as a frame.
I would like to see what this painting would look like without the eye shine and leave nothing but hollow sockets. It might just add a little more creepiness to the picture but it still works fine the way it is.
Overall, the painting is absolutely disgusting but in a good way.
