love your work! great inspiration for learning shadows! but C'mon how do you add shadows with my style [link] it's even to crazy for me to think about it. if you can give me some advice on how to add shadows that would be beautiful!

First you have to make a light source , then make your shadows. So if your light source is comming from top right then all your shadows are going to be bottom left ....Also dont use black for shadows, in your peice you need a dark green , and for the 3-d i would use a burgandy or some dark red. Also for 3-d effects start with solid colors , until you get the hang on it , to many colors just makes it look messy and confusing. Have fun with it , im sure youll do well !

wow...good job!! is it on canvas? did you use any stencils? what size is the painting?...and one last question...what calors did you use?

MikeLangston In reply to zeugi [2009-09-28 19:59:01 +0000 UTC]
Yea this is back drop for a photographer, i have one more to do this same size. I cropped the pic , but the canvas is almost 6 feet X 4 1/2 feet. No stencils all freehand. But this is one suggestion, use opaques paints. NO transparent colors. You have to push and pull your colors so much that you want to keep tht exact color even if you have to cover over black. Thats the great things about useing opaques.Transparents youll get to many clors, you want to control the clor. Thats why spray paint is so nice cause most of it is all opaque. For this one i used Createx Opaque Blue , and i mixed 4 diffrent blues useing white from lightest to darkest. Then 1 with Opaque blue and a couple drop of black for my shadow areas. Lets me know if you have anymore questions !
