I really like this image a lot. It always nice to see classic and timeless images that are re-envisioned for today's needs. And clearly by today, I mean 1945 e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)" /> When I first saw the b/w version the nostalgia of this piece was immediately present, and what I love about it, is that I almost missed the point entirely, i.e. the claws. Truly the sign of a great image, one where you can look at it and enjoy it and then keep looking at it, finding little bits that you missed the first time and then enjoy it all over again. The "aged" look of the photo certainly enhances the piece, but it is here that I have my major (and only) complaint. While I think the rips and folds and creases work stunningly, I think the actual image should be "distressed" a bit more to really look like it is over 60 years old. Maybe more of the color could fade in certain areas, maybe some of the image could be blurry because photographic technology in the forties certainly didn't even know how to spell HD e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)" /> All in all, this really is an awesome piece that, when viewed on the comic stands, would be begging to be picked up and read.

You know....looking at that illustration he looks a fair bit like a young Tommy Lee Jones. Something in his face. And if you see pics or footage of a young Mr Jones he would have been ideal as that character(minus the Texan accent of course).

Great work.

I have a question if you have the time. How often do you use models for your pieces? And if so do you do rough pencil 1st. Then position the models according to the rough poses. The reason I ask is because you have an amazing gift of proportion and lighting. Just amazing. Keep up the great work.

This particular piece is all poser. Michael 4 model tweaked a bit with shiny black material for skin.

This one turned out great. Perfectly pulled off old snapshot. Love the added effects too. The folds and cracks are perfect. Additionally, I like the watercolor effects with the sepia(sp) tone to give it a more weathered look. GREAT JOB!
