Description This was shot the same time that Plusx200 did his"Keep Her Safe" [link] series. He shot his on Digital and I with film.
For me the picture means something different..I titled it "Forced Belief" cause of the two blind faith institutions that he holds in his hand. Lately in America the military has become very similar to the church. Join, don't ask questions, I'ts for the better good, only god has the answer. Scary how they both end up screwing those who believe in them.

"Crazy Crossover"
Shot by: Me
Idea by: Plusx200

P.S this is from the same roll as the beach series with steve_purcell..its all about exposure!

excellent. absolutely excellent. i agree on the religion thing (for those of you who don't agree about what he said about the church and religion, you should read up on history.. you don't even need to go that far, maybe just a few days.), and sorta the military thing, but it's more of a government uh.. thing, than any..thing. dammit. too many things. a few branches of the military are ok in my book.. the ones that aren't based on killing, like the coast and national guard, but i could be wrong. my 20-year old brother is in the coast guard, and he says they do a lot of rescueing, like helping people lost at sea or stuck in a storm. "fantastic" as he says.

i just don't like the idea of forcing family members out to kill other people who've been forced into the madness. i don't like the fact that people being brainwashed in any given religion are killing themselves as well as innocent people to get a stupid point across. it's all just so crazy.

personally, i think everyone would be better off as buddhists, but i'm not gonna force it down anyone's throat. i don't care what you believe in, and as my best buddy vincent valentine said, "i don't care what you're doing, so much as the stupid way you are doing it." i lurve him .

bleach, i'm sick and dizzy, so if anything made sense, that's great..

i kinda agree with that..i'd do like everyone else and explain my opinion but that would take waaaaaay too long..and im just too lazy for ish like that. so I'll just leave it as: +fav, great idea (seriously, i love it) and the picture is wonderful sorta like how when you join the church/miltary, they seem to be the only thing people can see..hehe..

Like I don't agree with your opinion much, and I'm sorry you feel that way. But the fact that you were able to express it with your photo is hella cool. You did a real nice job! The picture looks great without the means behind it! Focus rocks and the colors are outstanding. keep up the good work

Its not just the military..it when people stop asking question of anything they belong to...yes an institution may have started with good intentions but it changes hands over the years. And any group is only as good as the people in it. People forget that.

Dont forget guys...mad props to Plusx200..check out his gallery for a differnt look on this shot!

I "got" where you were coming from just from the title and the pic. Extremely well done. I'm not a photographer, so I won't comment on it other than to say I really liked the lighting and the out-of-focus background.

Being from a more "old-school" military family, I mourn the loss of the wood-deck Navy when honor among sailors meant much, much more than just "let's cover each other's asses when we break the law". It's that change that kept me from following in the family's footsteps.

Outstanding. +fav for sure.

Plenty of agreement with you so far, sureality, and here's a little more. I've certainly seen plenty of idiocy associated with religion, always suspected the same from the army but now a friend is suffering from it firsthand (forced enlistment until 2031, anyone?).

Religion's a neat idea, and for a developing culture of curious humans it's very useful. We're inquisitive people, and we like to have explanations for things. Og comes out of his cave, sees a lightning bolt, he doesn't know anything about ionization, electricity, cloud formation, weather patterns - with no way of finding out what's really going on, he decides to toss around ideas with the rest of the cavemen. They make up some stories about what it might be, and go to bed. FF a few hundred years, and their campfire theories have spread around, and people don't have any better ideas so they take that as truth. (FF a few more, and someone decides "hey, I can get lots of power if I tell people that I'm talking to that god in the cloud!")
But now we can find out what's happening. We know what questions to ask about our universe, and we have the ability to find the answers. We don't need religion any more, but it's been around for so long and there are so many powerful people corrupting it for their own benefit that it'll be tough to get it relegated to the history books like it should be.
I can wait.

sorry about the double post you also have to take into effect where people are from, sureality and myself are from south of boston, where all the priests are running around looking for little boy ass, and in this area, it is all jaded. so basically, think before you speak.

I appreciate the fact that you've used an excellent photo to bring your point across. I like how the items of choice are placed in a fist, bringing more of a sensation of agression into the pic. The person is blurred into the bg, a nice analogy for what happens to someone after they have joined the force, be it army or religion. Their thoughts no longer matter, only their acceptance and ability to follow.

Without choice, you are not free.
Without choice, you will not believe.

So True,
I dunno bout others .. but I agree with ur view ..
And just not in america.. half of the world seems like taking warpath
as first religion on the name their religions. . . It is so sad to see that
everybody (even those who live with stomach on their hands) are being
dragged in..

well .. that was what i thought .. cut the stuff .. but your photograph says so
much that I really cudn't stop myself expressing my opinion ( too long i guess )

awsome work .. and it is indeed very impressive way to express ur opinion ..

may god bless you .. good luck ..

Great angle, great concept, great symbolism, great title.. hey, Great photo!
No more to say really, I'm sure its all been said before. I just like it, that's all. Btw: The fact that you use a colored frame, as opposed to black and white, really shows the guts to try different schemes.. lovely!

I usually don't DD's because I usually don't like them all that much.. I'm not implying that they are undeserving of it, I just don't particularly like them.

This however, I do like and I love the description. This carries a true essence and holds value other then 'how you came up with it'...

I share the same thoughts and views that you have. You have done well with this and even better underlining the 'real' meaning for yourself. This gets you in my heart.
