Description Whelp, the big bad Basilisk is finally done, and looking better than ever!

A big thanks goes out to Kirvesnaama, for doing a fantastic job with the Textures and Animations.

The Basilisk is the Ultimate Cybran weapon.

Main weapon consists of a dual Photon Bolt Cannon. Secondary weapons consist of 10 Splitting SureKill Missiles, 2 Dual EMP Turrets, 6 Anti-Air Beam Missile Tubes and 2 underslung Electron Bolters. Overall Armor Integrity is lower on the new model, but it boasts far more advanced Nano-Repair systems, meaning even if you almost kill it, if you leave it along, even for a short period, it will regain large amounts of health back.

All in all, this is the single most baddass unit available in Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance, EVER.

And soon everyone will get to enjoy commanding one(or more!) of these on the fields of Battle With BlackOps:Unleashed V5!

I never leave my Basilisks alone because those things have god-like micromanagement (Walk in circles in front of the enemy base, withdraw to a safe distance once HP is low, deploy artillery while waiting to regen, packup when full, march to enemy base and repeat). They can practically tap-dance on top of a factory. For some reason, these things are so incredibly mobile for a machinet that big. I feel that your Basilisk has turned the Cybrans in something of the best faction in the game now.

The Basilisk is Powerful unit, but comapred to it's power against ground units it's extremely weak against Air, it's own cost in Strat Bombers or T3 Gunships can kill it VERY fast even at full Veterancy. For me and Hawkeye Cybran was certainly our favorite and while it might have gotten the "Coolest" toys to play with, we did our best to make sure it's all balanced.

I have indeed noticed that, while the Basilisk is strong enough to down a T3 Bomber with one volley of anti-air missiles, it's AA isn't overly fast and it also focuses ALL it's AA against one air unit in range. That and an ungodly build time (12 minutes on the commander) and high build costs do a good job in balancing the unit. In the time you build one Basilisk, you can pump out 4 Monkeylords. In that regard, it truly is an experimental, balanced enough to end a game, but not overly powerful to be a complete game breaker.
"Coolest"? Come on, the damn thing roars at your foes. How can you not name it 'awesome'?

On a seperate note, will you continue to develop BlackOps? Or is it done as it is?

Initially we had planned to continue BlackOps, but Hawk was pretty busy and I was working on other stuff, then PA came around and ended up being extremely disappointing 2.5 years later it just never ended up happening.

Oh, well... While I am somewhat sad to hear that, at the same time I feel BlackOps is still a well thoughtout and developed mod. Although I am going to miss the thrill of discovering new additions, I will also continue to enjoy the current version of the mod

You know how many T3 bombers or Gunships you can get for the same cost as a Basilisk?

55 Strategic Bombers(3000 Dmg per Bomb, total 165,000 Damage = Dead Basilisk even with FULL VET)

69 T3 Gunships(333.33 DPS Total of 23,000 DPS give or take = Dead Basilisk in less than 10 Seconds even with FULL VET)

It's powerful Yes(It IS a Game-ender after all), and it does have some some AA to keep it from being picked off by singluar Air units, but to call it unstoppable is laughable, also not tested but apparently its cost in Monkeylords will kill it as well.

Actually, the Basilisk oringally was created before Supcom2 came out, we like to think they got het idea for the Cybransaurus FROM us.

As far as Basilisk VS Rex, saddly even with Nukes the Rex is compeltely outmatched, The rex is what, about 12 Meters height? The Original Basilisk was about 100 Meters tall, and the MKII is even bigger!

The Roar is still intact, I was hoping to see if I could find someone who can do some sound mixing to kick it up a notch or two, but I haven't had much luck saddly.

Haha good ol Basalisk, man Mike you've really made this new remake and remodel of it several times more awesome then the original

The AI never seem to build them, but on the odd occasions they do a lesson is learnt hard and fast, once at a LAN with 2 other friends of mine we had a AIx - Sorian drop a early game Basilisk right into our base, not even 20 minutes in god was that scare and a half, especially when the things bloody awesome roar froze us in our places before it arrived in our line of sights, haha so ominous XD

I cant wait for the new Goliath, since its new model just kicks ass and I'm so anxious to see what its epic shoulder gun does!

The Feet don't have as much of an impact as they did on the Old Basilisk, but the area they cover it actually larger, due to using articulated footpads this time around.

Actually, it does.
Having a large surface area to push the force of the weight will actually grant the basilisk the ability to walk over a much wider range of terrains without its weight being an issue.
Force exerted by the object is affected by the surface area on which the force is exerted from.
For example, a pike of 50KG would make much more force of pressure and would be more damaging than a 50KG plate.

I was speaking in terms of visual impact, the old Basilisk's feet were larger visually, but the New Basilisk's feet actaully have more surface contact with the ground compared to the Old foot design.

It'll be ready when its Ready, with BlackOps its always nearly impossiblee to give any kind of date sue to how we update everything at once and while the coder for Unleashed might have everything good to go we sometimes have to wait for the coder that works with the ACUs and Special Weapons Mods to finish his stuff and he is also the guy that does all of our Vault Uploading.

TL;DR - Its tricky.
