Hey guys,
I was wondering if any of you know of a good program that allows me to record my desktop in a good quality without making photoshop or Sai lag. :C
I've seen Camstudio recommended a lot, but it lags my PC pretty bad and the results aren't convincing.
Any free (and safe) alternatives you've tried out? The most important part being no lag, and good quality video.
I'd really like to get back to making process/tutorial videos on youtube. u 3u;
As always, your comments and suggestions are very much appreciated! (sorry if I can't always reply to all!)
~Miki

Well, you can either download Fraps Or Dxtory for free on any torrent site. I recommend dxtory as the file size wont be as big.
but like i said, a capture card can be a nice choice as well (i am going to get the Avermedia Live capture card, its a gaming capture card for any resolution ) So again, it might be a bit overkill for someone like you xD lolz 200$ is not your average tip no XD

I will check those out, thanks again. C:
haha, yeah. I think if I were to get more serious about videos, I'd consider it. but atm, it's more about sharing simple videos for fun.

it all really depends on your computer... the more cores, the more threads, and therefore the more things that can run simultaneously. photoshop uses a lot of CPU, as do any screen capture program.

I usually go on livestream using Procaster if I want to record my desktop actions. It saves a video into your drive after you're done with your live stream, you can simply set your channel to private.
It doesn't make SAI nor PS lag. Works like a charm. ^^

someone recommended the same...that's a good sign, hehe. Do you by chance know where it saves to? (or do I have to set it myself?) I will try it out next time I stream.

It saves into the default folder of your procaster location.
I'm not specifically sure where / or could remember in this case. But just the same, I simply type the title of the video to find it.
Let the computer do the finding. hahaha!
Or you might also be able to set the location, I haven't tried that one out though. I'll let you know.

I found the settings for it, and customised it. Thanks so much for the help! I think this could work.
(Just need to find an ideal video size now)

cool!
I use those videos I've recorded to edit and create a speed paint version. (Watchers get bored most of the time watching real time)

ah yes. same reason I want to do this. my on-demand videos are like... over an hour long and 90% is slow drawing and lots of me talking... xD it's kinda boring.

haha! i know what you mean. And it's kind of a little awkward when people watch you do your drawing live.
And I sometimes get bored if that's all I do. Anyway, let us know when you're going live. I'll visit your channel.

Somewhere in your Documents folder, I think.
But if I remember correctly, you have to explicitly check a checkbox somewhere so it actually also saves the video into your drive instead of just streaming it online.

you wanna take screen shots? or record video video?
I have a free program that can do both. but I'm not sure you can add voice to it.

my only complain about it is that it ask you to download the update every few while.
and if didn't work for you, I can probably find you a better one.
