You stared at the computer screen, your chin in one hand while the other thwacked a pencil against the desk. The pace is inconsistent; sometimes it's tapping is swift, impatient, and sometimes it's prance is as gentle as the clucking clock. Concentration wavered, your countenance alternating between determination and malaise, the words on the screen fazing in and out of blur.

For the umpteenth time, your eyes flickered to the source of clicking and your lips furled at the insignificant time change. It's enough to make you ill, and the lack of words scrawled on your worksheet made the impending deadline all the more dreadful. With a groan, your nose dove toward the desk and hid itself within your arms.

"Fuck."

Vibration rippled across the wooden surface, coercing you to lift your head. Your tired eyes reacquainted with the blaring light source, the text from Tsukishima far easier to understand than one sentence from your homework.

You contemplate the simple question, thumbs hovering over the digital keyboard. Lightheartedly, you wondered how much he wanted to know . . . At this moment in time, or what you were doing with your life? Both seemed pertinent to the question.

The chuckle that left your nostrils was airy, brief.

Mentally, you could see your boyfriend rolling his eyes, the place between his brows puckering. He wasn't one for pouting, and it was unlikely you'd receive a response after that. The phone was haphazardly discarded, and your palms pressed into your sockets.

Another, elongated curse left your lips.

It was about a quarter passed seven when a knock broke you from your trance. You looked over your shoulder first before it occurred to you to check your phone. Tsukishima hadn't said a word since your last text an hour ago, and no one else had mentioned stopping by. Confounded, but nonetheless curious, you rose from your confined space and answered the door.

Tsukishima's blond, ramen locks struck you with familiarity, but it was the little blue box in his palm that caught your eye.

"You didn't drown."

Your lids nearly stuck to your eyeballs with a blink, meeting his honey-colored hues, "Tsukki?"

"Don't act so surprised. Or am I not allowed to bring you something nice, unannounced?"

He offered the box and stuffed his hand back in his pocket. Pink speckled across your cheeks, Tsukishima's gaze imploring you to open the spontaneous offering. Such generosity was not always outwardly expressed, and there was a part of you that expected this was his way of being ornery. When the top sprung open, a sweet, ambrosial scent filled your senses and your significant other smirked.

A cupcake; icing fluffy and [favorite color], adorned with an edible pearl in the center.

"It's . . . so cute," you chirped.

"I knew you'd say something like that," Tsukishima shrugged out of his jacket and brushed passed you, "Sweets tend to bring down stress-levels. Also, I figured you'd need the break. I'll 'halp' once you've finished desert."

A kiss to your temple broke you from your trance, the container lingering in your hand like a delicate flower. Tsukishima's brows furrowed at your doe-eyed stare, glazed over with a moist gleam. You fell against him, arms encircling his middle,

"Thank you . . . Tsukki."

"It's just a cupcake," he muttered, hand flat atop your head.

You shook your head and looked up with a smile, "Not just for that . . . but for thinking of me."

"What else should a boyfriend do?"

"Do all my homework for me . . .?"

Tsukishima snorted and flipped your forehead.
