Half fan art, half original character.

It's a Portal OC. Oh dear.

Since I'm not creative enough to make a personality sphere, I thought it would be fun to think up what the subjects were like from Aperture's hay day back in the 50's. Chip Vanderhuge was then born, an astronaut hired to test the new Quantum Tunneling Device.

Yeap, his last name was taken from MST3K's "Space Mutiny" episode. It felt appropriate.

I thought back to how the old facility looked and remembered a general color scheme of dulled browns and grays. So I think the test subject's general uniform back then might have been the same. The painfully bright orange jumpsuits were probably introduced not until the late 60's.

It kinda makes him look like a Ghost Buster.

Chip's a simple man who got lucky and managed to go outside the Earth's orbit and become one of the first astronauts. Then he became unlucky and became a test subject for Aperture Science Innovators. No doubt he probably ended up one of the "missing" astronauts that were part of the trails.

Alternatively he became my first Fallout 3 character! Just started playing that, loving it so far.

All in all, Chip's doomed to die of something horrible no matter what universe he's in!

I have no idea what the original Quantum Tunneling Device really looked like. But I did see someone make one for a cosplay. That was awesome.
