Description Too bad didn't get some of this
j/k!

Alright, I sayed no more pictures cause my Digital Rebel is in Cali getting fixed up, however I had an older, non slr, digital camera to use. This storm was very close, and very active and i had to get some pictures even with the older camera. The quality isn't as good, and i was limited to 2 sec exposures so oh well. So stupid me got in the street with a metal tripod with lightning maybe a mile or so away and getting closer. It was fun . I selected this one for you guys, enjoy i hope!

Taken tonight, aug 4th, 2005. Phoenix, Az.

F-stop: 7
Exposure: 2 sec

That's amazing! Capturing lightening is the one goal I have yet to attain but it really excites me.

Great shot... yeah I confess to joining the ranks of extremely risky photos .. I too was out in the middle of a car park shooting that shot of the casino with a metal tripod... and we were surrounded by lighting on all sides and it was damned close. Just be sensible and don't take silly risks...

I'd waited a year for that photo and I was damned if I wasnt taking them... the bf had instructions on how to post the pics if the worst should happen so at least I'd have one last shot to go down with hehe. The rain pretty much blew all ideas I had for getting more pics tho, it was blowing straight at my lens

I dunno if you print your own stuff.. but I'm not a big fan of glossy paper at the best of times and I printed out the casino/lightning shot on canvas as I usually do with the better ones.. and all I can say is wow !!! the monitor does not do that picture justice. I also printed it out on shrinky dink cos the bf had never seen that paper before and it came out damned nice too considering this particular printer hates that paper. If you have some that shot would probably look great on canvas

You can say that again
What would be those photos worth if You could make 'em with Your eyes closed, ay?

I like lightning captured on short times... the light is often more dynamic
Too bad, there aren't many good storms where I live...

Good work anyway
You should definitely risk Your life more often
