Hey! This was a shitload of fun to make
I was thinking about how creepy it would be if in the future, people start neglecting their real bodies to exclusively live in downloaded indistinguishably real simulations. There would be all kinds of interesting philosophical debates to have, and loads of conflicting opinions on the technology. It's an idea I might explore more, especially if people dig it.

I wonder about this all the time too! I feel like we're headed in that direction, when we already have human interaction through a machine... if it ever gets to that point, I think that we might have machines to keep us fed and alive too, though.
Everything we experience is really about perception and chemicals in our brain, I think it'd be easier to reproduce sensations than people realize. If our mind believes something is real, it becomes real... like how dreams can provoke such strong emotional reactions; the emotion is so real, I feel it's not entirely fantasy.
When I was 16-17, I actually had this irrational fear that one day I'd have to compete with virtual/robotic women for men. Thankfully that's not the case... yet.

It looks completly awsome thats out of question, but I think to express the main idea behind it, a more realistic "dream" would have worked better. Maybe him beeing a really handsome (to stick with the contrast that you already created) succsesfull buisness man, sitting at the main seat in a conference. Sth. that feels more like a authentic illusion of a "better" identity that is based in the real world. Or sth of this kind. When I saw your picture the first time I understood it as some sort of missused patient that suffers under some sick experiment and remembers a moment in his past, that apears in comparison of his sitation as sth. really beautiful. I really like this image even if it expresses sth. else for me than what you obviously intended. The contrast you created is really nice. I agree with you that this vision of future is very interesting. Im a big fan of fucked up visions of the future like cyberpunk scenarios and such.

You know the most creepy thing about this, or fucked up depending how you look at it, this will most likely happen. Really clever concept since real life is dull and boring compared to fiction, which is what the internet is in all honesty.

I love this piece, really does convey that unsettling, nightmarish world... I wonder how far away we are from that? O.o
Also, I think a comic book (then adapted into a film) kinda plays with that concept; I think it's called "Surrogate".

this is absolutely beautiful. i like the high contrast between the color choices you have for the real world and the virtual world. there probably is a possibility that this might be our coming future, which is both scary and interesting at the same time. its sad to say, but people are starting to slowly morph into their technology, even if we dont notice it ourselves. the only thing that kind of bothers me is his left arm of the neglected body. it looks like the arm is slowly becoming the bed itself. besides that detail, this is a great piece to think about.

Beautifully done. (Before I read the description I interpreted it as the woman cheating on her cancer-stricken husband with another healthy man. I don't know why, I have no personal experience with cheating or being cheated on, that's just what immediately popped into my mind. How heartbreaking. I'm so glad I was wrong.)

Interesting concept. Your idea reminds me of a movie I saw called A.I. (Artificial Intelligence). In it Jude Law plays a robot that is basically a substitute for a male prostitute. He transforms and becomes any woman's dream guy.
That's not the main focus of the movie but it's still very good. You should watch it.

This actually came up in my philosophy class. The students were asked if they would rather live a real life in the real world or live in a perfect simulated reality. Everyone agreed on the real world option. It all came down to the question of reality for most of us, in that we'd rather accomplish real things in the real world than just pretend to accomplish them in our minds.
Regarding the piece, it's absolutely beautiful! I love the idea and the composition. And the technique is absolutely phenomenal. You have real talent and vision, my friend. Keep it up.

i'm not a big star trek fan but i know they have a simulated reality space called the 'holiday' where anything they wish to imagine can come to fruition, quite similar to the idea you're exploring. probably worth looking into if this is a concept you'd like to further investigate
