Hey! This was a shitload of fun to makeI was thinking about how creepy it would be if in the future, people start neglecting their real bodies to exclusively live in downloaded indistinguishably real simulations. There would be all kinds of interesting philosophical debates to have, and loads of conflicting opinions on the technology. It's an idea I might explore more, especially if people dig it.
Hope you like, please let me know what you think!

Me and my buddy talked about this... We can imagine that the wealthy of this world would be able to afford both the program AND life-support form hospitals as to make sure that they could be in there as long as they wished and still be healthy, where as it was more risky for the middle/lower class if they can even afford it to begin with as they would have to know what the limit is before their physical body would give out. Perhaps some poor people in who are/getting evicted from homes or losing their family use this program as a way of suicide, buy the program with the last of their money and never disconnect, "living" a happier live and forgetting what they're leaving behind.
Depending on whether or not people would be connected to each other I could imagine that an entire other civilization would begin growing inside the program, Governmental regulations made by "Plugged-In Politicians", making people not only be charged to HAVE the program but to simply EXIST within it, being forced to endure labor. I think it would be at THIS point, where even the Utopia becomes painful for some, that the program becomes COMPLETELY indistinguishable. This idea may make some people paranoid, even after leaving the program, they would fear that they're still in a program and be constantly trying to find ways out until they commit suicide (little Inception-y, but still). In the real world, slight acts of kindness could cause people to question which existence they're in. A father of 2 in one world is also a father of two in the virtual world, but he becomes confused and scared, worried that he's putting more effort into the wrong family, in a last resort effort after therapy can't help, he decides to kill one of the families so that way he can focus ALL of his time on one, and ends up killing the real family. The man is given a death-penalty, he please guilty and his last wish before being put down is to be put into the program as he's being injected with the venom so that he can spend his last minutes with the family that he has truly come to love.
With this confusion of world's, people could be forgetting who their REAL loved one's are, and who they're virtual lovers are. They're could be love triangles between people inside the program and people outside. Hell, if the program really IS sort of an MMO-connection, there could be people who fall in love IN the program, and then leave the program for the rest of their lives and spend their lives looking for those they fell in love with.
God, There is SO MUCH THAT COULD GO WITH THIS!!!

This is so freakin amazing. I always wondered what it would be like to live in a virtual reality that you make in your head. It would be so difficult to want to come back to reality. So many people would die. It would be bittersweet. Many movies come to mind. You are great at what you do, thanks for sharing!

I was actually discussing this in my philosophy class the other day! A dude name Jeremy Betham came up with the idea of a 'pleasure' machine and instantly your piece, reminded me of his idea. (Not saying that your idea isn't completely original just that it made me think of what we discussing in class.... pardon me if I've offended you.) Anyway~ This is a really awesome piece, I love the idea behind it and love the piece itself.

I lack the means to tell you what I think of this. So in layman's terms I'll say that this is absolutely marvellous. I'm amazed how well the colours come out.
I'd love to trade my life for an artificial environment, though I actually care about my health.
Grats on the DD, it's well deserved. Keep it up.

I have to say this is absolutely beautiful in a sense that I'm so glad I can say that. I've never used it to describe art before, but this, this is just... fantastic. Your painting is so.. amazing~! you definitely deserved the DD and all the new watchers you get c:

I'd be happy with people doing the "real" thing...but, personally, I'd rather permanently hook my brain up to a simulation. Technology is just as amazing and beautiful as nature, in my opinion. And, uh, cleaner. XD

Amazing and breaktaking concept. This has often been mentioned in movies and it always interest me thinking about it. You can already see a beginning of sorts with this with the internet, so many people is stuck to the computer instead of living a life outside of the networkk, so I don't think it will take so much for this to actually be real. All it takes is the science for it to be real, many people would throw themselves at this. And it's both exciting thinking about what we can possibly in the future see but at the same time terrifying with how it can in many cases end up just like in your art.
Love it, keep up the good work, and love to see more of this in the future!

It's a lot like the Epic, Saga, Edda trilogy. They boot into other characters in a game world and interact with each other in their virtual, incredibly realistic forms.
