Bye-bye, birdie.Never had there been such succulence,
I mean loveliness, so sweet and tender, my birdie.
I will never forget, nor will I ever find the like.
Dearest birdie, no more will I glimpse such color,
But I will forever treasure those last few strands, stray feathers.

I must confess my bafflement.
Four times did I call, and three did you disregard.
Why the fourth?
I was not so deceived to trust to hope.
I knew that it was three, always three.
What creature could withstand trice the magic?
None, yet you broke all the rules.
On the fourth you came eagerly to my cage.
Stupid, birdie!
I could not control such nature.
Do not blame me, such was your enticement.
I was lost from that very moment, and now so are you.
Birdie?
Where have you taken yourself?
How could you leave me here with only these remnants?
They do you not justice, and now I am losing.
Those moments of red are all but gone.

Maybe or it could be just a weird fancy. I really wasn't thinking of anything when I wrote it, but you should re-read and think of eating while doing so.

It was more of an after thought. After I had some people read it before posting they mentioned that, and it was then that the possibility that I was writing about my dog was brought up. He has been catching birds of late and eating them/leaving trophies in my front lawn.
