Description
What can be said of the game that was simultaneously Dance Dance Revolution and Guitar Hero but made before either? Well, it can now be said that it will return. That's right, true believers, Samba De Amigo is coming back, and this time for the Wii, using technology that Sega developed ten years ago and nobody paid attention to. Now, it has only been announced, and otherwise there isn't any real information apart from speculation. But it won't stop me from dreaming! With 2 hours at a Braums waiting on the mechanic to rotate the tires, I had a long time to draw this picture and come up with idea of the game. Here's my idea. Each character has their own set of songs to "Maraca" to, or maybe even different instruments if we're using the Wiimote and not specifically Maraca remotes.Amigo himself would have traditional and more modern Spanish songs. I say a list of original songs, traditional songs performed Mariachi style, as well as a list of artists like:
Los Lobos
Santana
Gipsy Kings
If we use the Gipsy Kings' version of Hotel California, too, we could also use the original Eagles version for posterity's sake.
Amiga, his sister. Alternative insturment, Tamborines maybe. She would have a list of songs by girls who rock, and fall into the style of music that would fit the game:
KT Tunstall
The Delgados
Michelle Branch
Shakira
Paulina Rubio
Mosquitos
Bingo and Bongo, the bears, I say put them together. Alternative instrument, Bongos and Congos. I say give them a musical genre that the Guitar Hero franchise has cruelly neglected, Surf Guitar. Yes, make sure they have the major hits:
Miserlou
Wipeout
Walk, Dont Run
Surfin USA
Let's Go Trippin
and they'd have to have music by:
Dick Dale
Beach Boys
The Shadows
The Ventures
and the awesomeness that is Laika and the Cosmonauts
Chumba and Wumba, the cheetahs who I sadly neglected in the picture above, I also say put together. Alternative instrument Congas and Mandolin. I say a more country style of music. Since I'm not a country music fan, I cant think of any, so I dont have a list.
Linda, the beautiful Butterfly girl, whose costume I didn't do justice to in the picture above, alternative instrument Castanets, should have airy, boppy power pop:
Ricky Martin
Shakira
Paulina Rubio
Sixpense None the Richer
ect...
And lastly Rio, that crazy cat of indeterminate species and questionable gender. I had some fun with him up there, and though I forgot his hair, I did give him a Ziggy Stardust stripe across his face and bell bottoms. Music-wise, a more rock and roll approach:
Fastball
Los Lonely Boys
Dave Matthews Band
and then the more Glam Rock approach
David Bowie
Talking Heads
So, there you go, Sonic Team. Heed with care guys, and bring me those crazy, latino dancing animals.
On the brief subject of the picture above, I was doing this at Braums over two spare hours, and had no source material to look at. That's why Amiga's hair is different, Linda's costume is vastly different, Chumba and Wumba are missing, and Rio has no hair (though I did take some creative liberties with costume and Bowie stripe, the change of face was accidental). I did have fun with the skelital mariachi band, and the shades on the palm tree and sun.
