You'd think Thomas would know better than to listen to Diesel considering that he knew of what he did to Duck when he first came to Sodor. I think having Molly as the main character of the episode would make more sense. She was still new at the time, and very likely hadn't met Diesel yet. So she wouldn't have been aware of his tricks.
