Description This is an alternate version of my Singer Tech deviation.

It's an illustration of my sewing machine that I threw together to make it easyer to render with blender.

Anyway, the scan is really bad, in my oppinion. It came out way too red. While playing around with the sliders, levels, and curves I got this, which has an "aged" kind of look to it, making it more of an artistic piece then a technical drawing. Personally I like the other look better, it's less harsh, but I'm putting this up for comparison.

Alternate image, less bright and harsh, but also less "artsy" is here [link]

[moved into regular gallery, because other people liked it more then I did  ]

I'll be honest and say that I like this brighter version. I think both are incredible, but I love the texture of this one. Is that the texture of the newsprint?
I really like the contrast of the organic texture of the paper against the technical aspects and perfect straight lines of the diagram.

I don't know very much about technical drawing, but I never really thought about it as beautiful until I saw these. It's clear to see the painstaking detail, effort and time put into it.

I think either would look great printed on canvas. Oooh, or vellum, that would rock.

I have only have one suggestion, and it's a small one. It looks like the the cropping isn't exactly straight. It distracted me a little that the vertical lines on the left side of the drawing lean away from the edge of the image. The only thing I would change is to re-crop it a little.

I think I understand what you mean when you say it's a little harsh, but I think that the texture has a really soft feel, and since the lines are so fine and perfect they don;t come across as harsh to me. I hope you don't mind, I downloaded it and set it as my wallpaper, I really wanted to see it against a color besides the dA green/grey. It's surrounded by a burgandy color, a little deeper than the red tones from the jpg, and it looks great.

Do you have any other technocal drawings like this one? If you do, I'd love to see them, if not on dA, then otherwise. This is just too cool.

Yeah, I didn't use any filters on any of these, the newsprint does scan and texture well, probably work well with a filter too [use a scaned bit of newsprint and "apply texture" kind of thing].

I was tired when I did the scan and cropping together, I think I might just go ahead and tweak them both just a tad and re-upload with those.

Perhaps I should do a "technical" series.
