1) new app art (old art here: sta.sh/0zg2spr2u3e )

~~~~~**______**~~~~~
Name:
Apostel Nelvis
Nickname: Stel, "Jaws-mgee"
Age: 20
Birthday: April 29
Star Sign: Taurus
Height: 4' 3”
Weight: 94 lb
Family: Two parental custodians, three siblings – though is emancipated.
Creature: Ilin (native of the jungle)
Creature  The modern Ilin have ancient ancestors that came from the deep jungle regions, though through time, other groups adapted to other climates. They all have the ability to change their body structure (much like an octopus or a Ditto from pokemon to a degree) to blend into their surroundings/fit into new environments if they ever travel outside of their usual landscape. Younger Ilin can transform themselves as if it were second nature to them, and in most circumstances climate-based transformations usually happen subconsciously. But as they get older and begin to stay in one climate, their bodies begin to settle into set forms/changes and the transformations become more difficult at their structures loose elasticity. Ilin are also very agile creatures, their long stride can be difficult to keep up with at times.
Ilin have "missing" knuckles, so to say, as the tendons that keep their digitpeices (what humans would consider fingers) to their handnub (or palms) are virtually non-existent. The Ilin are able to change and rearrange the order of their digitpeices as well as leave them up to three feet from their presence. Because of the point their digits have in a relaxed state, they are able to complete delicate tasks – making them favorable for working with small electronic parts. Illin feet are designed to allow one to walk on virtually any surface without discomfort or difficulty, and therefore can also change in structure.
A “neutral” state for all Ilin is essentially like a black leather stretched over the surface of the skeletal structure. Hair/eyes can be all manners of colours, though can change on command without much thought or need to maintain focus. Ilin are typically very decisive though and keep their appearance virtually unchanged unless situations dictate otherwise. All Ilin are born with soft, leathery skin, though it can be bulked up on command to make a hard leather armor with the extremely versatile muscle structure. The ability to unhinge their jaw comes from the need to be able to eat large prey/fruits as well as to be able to carry it back to the family cove.
Ilin are a carbon-based life-form like humans/mammals, and must breathe air, sleep, drink water, and eat to sustain life. Ilin can regulate their own homeostasis, feed their young (though they give birth to their children in gel jellybean-shaped eggs) like mamals, and are a species that have a bi-gendered reproductive system, but they are not asexual. Due to their strange genetic composition, they can even mate with other creatures with good chances of the offspring living (under the circumstances of good prenatal care). Though because they evolved to survive their world and anything it threw at them, they're tough to kill when in combat, immune to most illnesses and toxins, and usually live to the minimum of 150 years.
:bulletbrown: Civilizations :bulletbrown: are a slightly complicated subject. Instead of having towns or villages, Ilin territories are determined by the wealth. There are two groups that make up civilized territories, Nobility and Lower.
Civilization structures (simple explanation):
                                                    ~Nobility Family~
-Main family: acts as court system, militia, dispute settler, family size regulator. Is usually the largest covegroup****(definition is in the "Demension" section) member-wise
- 1-3+ smaller covegroups (called branches) that have specializations that handle: food gathering, resource (such as metal/clay/jems) gathering, and crafting (who work with what gatherers bring in)
-the smaller covegroups may be kicked out of Nobility and into Lower if cannot keep up with requests from other branches
The Nobility
                                                       ~Lower Family~
-usually independent, but larger covegroups
-can sometimes be brought up into the Nobility family if proven to obtain resources reliably
-if allowed to organize, can become the Main family of a new Nobility family
Civilization structure (detailed explaination):
The dictating factor in how wealthy an Ilin is dependent on how well their Nobility family harvests and stocks resources. The Nobility family is comprised of several branches(or groups) of Ilin families that live in the same general area (sometimes in the same cove/cave/tree) and have something skill-based to offer - such as how well members of one branch hunts, and how well another branch crafts with materials such as furs or metal, as well as how well one mines/runs mines and how well the corresponding family might work with the metals. Most often than not, Ilin Nobility hold meetings with their families in the largest cove.
        *Nobility families have a Main family which acts as head organizer. The Main family is in charge of regulating family relations (i.e. who is absorbed into the family and who is kicked out) as well as settling family disputes, outside trading, law enforcement. The main family is almost always the branch that acts as the militia that offers protection to the other branches of the Nobility family, and being the most populated family, they will offer their members/grown children to stay in other branch households as personal guards.
Lower (or low-classed) Ilin families are seen more on the outskirts of Ilin Nobility territory and sometimes live on the forest/jungle (when referring to forest and jungle Ilin) floor beneath said territory and work for branches of the Nobility for food and services as payment. If a Lower family gains an influx of materials, it will be bumped up into the Nobility family it previously worked for. If an Ilin Nobility family branch cannot keep up with requests from the other branches, it will be bumped back down into Lower territory. It's a minor reason why some Lower families still have some Nobility-like comforts (i.e. rugs/mattresses, technologies). In lucky circumstances, a Lower family can form it's own Nobility by finding enough other families and a territory to call their own.
Magic: magic is only gossip to the Ilin, and most magic is chalked up to be advanced and dangerous technology, or conman trickery. Still, those who are suspected of magic or suck trickery are subject to long bouts of torture(for information on how to obtain the "technology"), slave work, death sentences, or exile.
Dimension:  Eristars
A world where instead of the intelligent life forms having adapted the world to fit their needs, self-evolution is how they survived.
This world is 60% water, 20% jungle, 15% forest, 13% mountain, 5% desert, 5% frozen wasteland, 2% everything else.
  The world is mixed in technological advancements as the people evolved differently - biologically speaking - than humans. The majority of the Ilin species reside mostly in the jungle tree tops, as the forest floor rarely sees light. While they still use wells for water, they have advanced aqueduct systems for water transport. They also have access to electricity, and most “Industrial Age Earth” comforts, though could still be considered “savages” by humans. They live as hunters since farming is not as popular nor viable in comparison to the abundance of all-year available fruits and hunt-able creatures in the tree branches and on the forest floor, respectively – although the equivalent of “windowsill gardens” are quite popular for growing spices/small flora. The Ilin are also not very advanced in their education system past the idea of apprenticeships, leaving medical and space-related technology as the most underdeveloped and neglected subjects. The barter system is the most widely accepted method of trade among the entirety of the Ilin race.
        There are several main deviations of Ilin forms which appear different according to where they live, i.e. white and furry for snowy lands, lizard-like for deserts, amphibious for lakes, mermaid-like for oceans, colorful and bright for coral reefs.
The species create their home usually by carving it out of the ground or into any wall (even giant tree trunks). These homes are called coves or caves throughout the world. An Ilin covegroup**** is the equivalent to what we call "immediate family".
Personality:
| shy | self conscious | intrepid | selfless | trusting |             | soft-hearted | considerate | dependable | protective | passionate |
Apostel is unselfish to an almost fatal fault. He is willing to do anything to protect the people around him, even if the consequences to his person are grave, and even if he's not particularly partial of his companion(s). This often makes him seem reckless or dauntless as he’s very likely to throw himself in front of danger to protect his companion, believing that his durability is enough to keep both his companion and him safe.
He's compassionate – even to the worst of people - and can be patient and tolerant to a high degree. Apostel's incredibly shy around other passengers and tends to prefer to be slowly introduced to one-on-one contact. On most occasions he will avoid getting too close to people and can be seen pressing himself to walls as he traverses through the various cars. This conflicts with his desire to be around people, and cripples most of his first encounters as he gets nervous easily. Stel’s quite the hopeless romantic and will pursue a love interest if he catches a hint of requited feelings in return.
Though appearances may not lend themselves in the right light, Apostel can handle very “adult” situations. Because of his extreme curiosity towards the other passengers, he often studies them (i.e. posture, mannerisms, actions) to make sure he interacts with everyone with an optimal level of understanding. Apostel may even be one of the most stable companions one could have, as he has not a sinew of malicious intent in his body. He’s considerate of people’s boundaries and does his best to be delicate when interacting with anyone he meets. Though he’s often too trusting himself, and will share anything of his (whether it be item, parts of his personal life, etc.), very much believing he has nothing to hide.
History:  Apostel Nelvis was the second hatched child out of four, to two very successful parents. His family was a part of a Nobility family, their branch dealing in crafting with metals. Apostel's father was a bright inventor who made many tools used throughout the Nobility Family. His mother was a skilled metal worker and produced strong armor and technologically advanced, made possible with the help of Stel's father, weaponry for the Main family. Together, along with Stel's older sister – a pupil under her father (who was Stel's mother) – the family was well established in their Nobility family, making Stel and his two brother's lives comfortable.
Apostel fell in love with technology at a young age. From the minute he could use his fingerdigits at 9 months old, he would play with any wire or metal chunk he could reach.
He was on the track of becoming his father's apprentice when at age 10 he began to have strange and vivid dreams. Some of these dreams would become a reality within the weeks, and within three months the dreams became reality the very next day. When he would tell his mother about how the dreams came true, his mother began to act oddly, becoming very paranoid, until she told him to stop saying things like that. Feeling concerned and confused about the issue, he went to his dad about the dreams, and was beaten without getting an explanation. He was told to keep quiet about such nonsense, that he no longer had a father, and his privilege to be taught the ways of the inventor were revoked(meaning Stel was to find a new mentor or be kicked out for being a useless mouth to feed) and given to his younger sibling. He was then told later by his mother that his father wasn't really his. The father that gave Stel his “tainted” genetics was a wandering vagabond who's mystery had enticed her into cheating – until Stel's “father” chased him off.
With injuries to both his self esteem and to his body, Apostel spent a few weeks in bed. During this time, he childishly tried to stop sleeping, not wanting the visions to come back, and it worked... until he let himself fall asleep for three days straight, where he saw himself walking through doors on a long, metal wire and the flood of warm emotions he felt. When he woke up he told no one, as no one would hear of this nonsense. Apostel now knew to keep his mouth shut and fell into silence until even his own family thought he had become mute – but he no longer tried to avoid sleep. His dreams were gone, but now he saw a vibrant future filled with adventure, and acceptance.
He spent 7 years going from apprenticeship to apprenticeship, learning small bits of trade, and even at one point learning basic battle tactics from the Ilin who trained the guardsmen of the Main family. Regardless of what he was being taught, he was still in love with tinkering and technology, and would mess with scrap parts and his “father's” failed contraptions late at night when everyone would be sleeping.
One of Stel's proudest moments was creating Wilms, his cannon. Wilms was a Frankenstein adaptation of two of Stel's “father's” creations. The original use of most of the parts for Wilms were supposed to be used for simple and quick planting of seeds - the project was vetoed because a) it shot seeds out too quickly and ended up breaking most of the test planters, b) the tool was too bulky for recreational gardening. The rest of the parts were for a mining invention that was to use hydraulics to make boring through rock and harvesting ore quicker, but the project was dropped due to lack of inspiration. By combining the two tools, and making his own modifications, he created a water-fueled weapon system. The force the ice was shot was enough to drill a hole through the typical iron armour his mother had taken such time and effort into crafting.
As one might imagine, his parents were not pleased with his behavior. They took Wilms and threw him out of their cove. Filled with rage, hurt and hate, Stel waited until his family went to bed and for when the guards switched shifts before he broke into his home again. Taking with him only his favorite cape, the clothes on his back, and Wilms, he set off and left the world he knew behind. His family would spend the next few years looking for him out of guilt.
For a few weeks Stel barely managed to find enough food and clean water to survive. He was weak and on the verge of death when a haggard vagabond picked him up and began to nurse him back to health in a rail station that had been abandoned due to the growth rate of the local fauna. Once more he spent several days in a light coma, this time he had only a few visions, though they were filled with strange figures and incoherent conversations in strangely decorated rooms that seemed to be ever moving.
When he woke up, and the initial shock died down, Stel and the vagabond began to talk. The stranger revealed that he was exiled due to his ability to “unnaturally” control fauna around him. Stel shared in his own tales of his visions and how he ended up out of a home.
Over the next three years, Stel stayed by the old hermit, learning many things, like the man's name: Stocretes. They became very close, to the point where Stel saw the man as a father. He watched this man work his magic in a small patch of earth cleared away for farming. He told him about all the things he'd see in his visions, and slowly learned how to accept his abilities as a gift, and how to harness the sight while consious. During this time, most of his visions were of daily tasks, and if it hadn't been for the reoccurring dreams of what he would later find out is the World Train, he would have been content with this life.
One afternoon though, when he came back from gathering water from a creek, Apostel found Stocretes slumped in his garden. The man was old, this much was true, but still his passing devastated Stel. He buried the man in his garden and planted his favorite wild flowers around the grave. With really no direction in mind, Stel stayed in the abandoned station, and eventually began to clear out the fauna that covered the old rails. A month passed by him, and one morning he awoke to discover the World Train had found him.
Taking his cannon, a pouch of small necessities, and a planter, he walked through the great doors with the same warm feeling he'd felt in his vision
Skills:  Natural abilities such as: body morphing, resistance to toxins, rapid weather-based adaptation
    Minor visions (mostly about tedious things like what someone will eat for breakfast or who'll pull a gun first): These visions often blur people and objects, leaving Stel to decipher who or what appeared in his visions solely on the feelings he gets when near the person or object in question. The nearer in time the vision is, the more of the vision he sees, but the further in time he looks the more broken the vision is. At first Stel could only see his visions in in his sleep, usually when he was between consciousness and unconsciousness states, but if he concentrates he can see them in his conscious state.
other misc. skills: very good at tinkering due to his agile fingers. Has a pretty decent aim with his cannon from years of tinkering with it. sensitive scent-registering glands in his nosebump make him a pretty good cook. Knows little odds-and-ends tricks such as sewing/crocheting...
Weaknesses:
The more intense the transformation his body needs to take on, the weaker he is. This can mean he can only keep the transformation for either a small amount of time, or the more exhausted he is afterward. He can make his entire body appear like an object for a few minutes, but it drains him of energy and usually knocks him into a short week-long coma.
His ability to see minor visions (while conscious) often leave him with dry mouth, a blinding migraine, and render him only able to use the ability once or twice per day (depending on how long he tries to peer into the future).
His body cannot recover from injuries that would kill a mortal human. If he's stabbed through the organ pumping his blood when he has no armor (whether it be his natrual armor or any armor given to him), he has the same chances of survival. While he has some natural resistance to some toxins, if the poison is potent and administered in high doses without an antidote, he would probably die. In order to keep up with his metabolism, he needs to eat often or eat high protein foods.
Stats: Health: 230
Magic: 205
Attack: 200
Defense: 210
Speed: 210 Weapons:  “Wilms” - a cannon roughly the size of his chest area(plus an arm if you want to count the tubes and mechanism that acts as the clip) that takes Newtonian liquids, turns
them into solid ammunition.
Size of ammunition depends on the amount of liquid imputed. His legs are quite powerful, though he only uses them when disarmed.
Items:
small rectangular planter full of rich soil (it gets left in his room/wherever someone will let him keep it); water canteen; pouch with dried herbs, seeds, and dried food. *some clothes bought on Sme
*Likes: :bullet white:
Soda, company, all things technology, anything edible (mostly sweets), goggles, any music with a rad beat
*Dislikes:
being alone for long periods of time, the smell of almonds, bone-crushing hugs
Misc. Facts:
His nosebump(or nose-like sense-organ) has such sensitive nerves that if someone stroked up his nose gently with either their hand or an object, he would be able to tell very basic scent based facts, even if the scent is a two days old; i.e. if someone smoked/ate ham for breakfast/who they spent the night with, as well as track a scent in the air to it's item's location.
He also has a bad habit of scratching himself when in an anxious state
:bullet pink: Voice ref:
:bullet pink:
Other good songs that make me think of Stel:
Songs Stel is likely to shake his booty to:
Pet: n/a (unless you want to count his empty planter?)
Relationships:
friends with anyone until they wrong him terribly
RP Sample:
scriptApostel: I wish I understood more of these words... what is sausage? -scratches nosebump with his ante(meaning his longest/pinky) finger- “I swear I have gotten myself into a bigger adventure than I had hoped...”
litAs he was not quite as knowledge in the ways of cooking as the other cabin mates - some of whom being human or humanesque - his vernacular was lacking the same meaning. He murmured to himself “I wish I understood more of these words,” he paused and spoke louder, turning to someone who was talking about breakfast meat, “what is sausage?”
His nervous tick of scratching at his nosebump with his ante (longest/pinky finger) digitpeice kicked in without him truly being aware of it – though if he didn't stop he'd end up with a scratch and he'd regret having not payed more attention. I swear I have gotten myself into a bigger adventure than I had hoped... he thought to himself, barely even hearing the explanation of the most beloved “pork stick”.
Thank you to Fawnt for helpin me fix the gangley mess that was Stel's personality description!
also thank you to the admin/mod that helped me with the first cleanup of my character, i dunno if i'm supposed to give you credit, but you know who you are and i want to thank you somehow
