1/4 ounce active dry yeast1/4 cup warmΒ water
3/4 cup warm milk
1 lg egg
1/4 cup soft butter
1/4 sugar
1 tsp salt
3 1/4- 3 3/4 cups flour
After kneading:
3/4 cup jam
At the end:
2 Tblsp butter melted
Confectioners sugar
Dissolve the yeast in warm water for 10 mins
Knead together all ingredients listed before the jam for 8-10 min
Let it rise covered in warm place for 1 hour or doubled
Divide in 4 parts - make 4 10 inch dough circles and spread jam in between layers
Make star shape by placing a 2 inch circle cutter in middle (but don't press it down)
Then cut into 16 cuts out from circle and twist twice in pairs outwardly - then press edges together
Let it rise covered to double for 30 mins
Bake 18-22 minsΒ at 375 degrees F
Brush with butter and cool on wire rack
Sprinkle with confectioner's sugar

Last night when i commented on your photograph i was in my local library and when i went home i genuinely had a carton of Ambrosia Deluxe custard, i never had any cakes as delicious as yours or any at all in fact so i used about a quarter pack of crushed McVities chocolate digestive instead...superb.
