wow! I can't believe you did this with "just" 3d modeling. usually those look way too clean for my liking
would you mind posting a tutorial or just describe how you got the textures this nice??

thank you I prefer to make my render more "rough" and not super clean, I think it gives away a warmer feeling, I mostly add such effects in Photoshop though. For the textures, I get them from cgtextures, although the wall texture is from arroway I think. I used a Vraydisplacmentmod on the stone wall to give it some depth since just using a bump map isn't really good enough for that kind of surface.
I use that feature a lot instead of applying a regular displace map in the material editor because it saves a lot of time and you have a lot more control.

thank you for your explanation!
I am not that experienced (yet) with textures (modelling is going well though)
Usually I just use Maya for these kind of things. Did you ever use that or do you prefer to use 3ds max like you do now?
It seems that I really need some more photoshop practice to make these sort of things work

I tried to learn Maya a couple of years ago, but i didn't really like it, it felt a bit confusing. then started to use 3ds max and I liked it way more, but I guess it's more a question of personal taste.

Maya also has a lot of menus. you can get lost in that program :')
I think I might try 3ds max soon!
