Woo, back with a vengeance after a nice weekend break! I must say thank you again for all the great comments and favorites <3FIRST LEVEL: Aang (rice ball with nori details and crab arrow), stir fried bean sprouts and curry tofu. I originally wanted to try a vegetarian bento for Aang but crab meat just worked so well for his arrow...so MOSTLY vegetarian on this one I guess.
SECOND LEVEL: Propped up on a slice of apple is Momo (hardboiled egg, cucumber eyes and nori details)! I carved him last night and the food color brown soaked in and came out sort of purple today O_o Oh well. Carved flower yellow squash and carved flower carrots with hard boiled egg cup full of ranch dressing. Sweet potato cakes (made with rice flour--still gluten free!) with food color airbender symbols.

LOL no, I'm filipino but I was raised in Hawaii with its really strong Japanese culture. I usually do bento boxes for my daughter but the ATLA ones have been my dinner lately (they smell SO good it's hard to resist long enough to take pictures!).

Well that makes sense and is very awesome. More people should feed their kids bentos for lunch.

Spam musubi is one of my favorite snacks (and now my daughter's favorite too)!!
I'll admit, sometimes I feel guilty eating their cute little faces (I sometimes try to disassemble them so they don't look like "people" anymore before I dig in XD)

I'm definitely going to start doing more ship/interaction boxes later, but I want to be sure I can do all the characters solo first. I'm having a terrible time finding soy paper (which is what I want to use for brown hair) so the Water Tribe folks are taking longer than usual

Momo was definitely a chore but after a week of making bento while chasing a 6 year old around before school, I've gotten pretty fast at it

oh haha thats so cute! when i have children i'm going to make them eat bento and traditional foods to help keep them away from fast foods and sugary drinks and what not. i guess i'm practicing on myself for now >w< thought i'm going more for taste right now than looks. someday i'll make a pretty bento though!
