If there was one thing you hated more than losing fame, it was losing money. It wasn’t always like this however, back in the old days, you and your trope, “The Masters of Deception” used to rake in money in the thousands, rolling in luxury and pleasure as you traveled from place to place to make it all happen. All thanks to a simple trick; Magic.Nowadays however, you weren’t so lucky. What used to be a fun loving and successful career was now on the line, your crew resorting to petty crimes and pickpocketing to survive and coming up with new spins on old tricks to stay alive. As people veered towards the more “street” or “beginners” Magic, you had found that you needed something to lure them back in, a real showstopper! You needed a main attraction of sorts to keep the audience invested.
You sat in your mansion, on the verge of bankruptcy and foreclosure, how would you find that main attraction these days if everybody and their dog can do it? That’s when you realized, Superheroes! They were big, there were hot, and more importantly, they were helpful....oh so eager to show up to any “crime” and find ways to help out! And you knew just who would be perfect for it, Stargirl.
The plan was simple, activate the Mansion’s security system as a way to lure Stargirl to you, throw a few broken items hear and there as a way to sell the act, and when she least expected it, bam! Under your control, your Main Attraction. You needed this to work, or else it would mean the end of all things. Was this the right way? Of course! After all, as they say, “The Show Must Go On.”
You waited patiently as you heard her enter in, outfit and all, unknowing of the danger and new direction of life she was about to enter, “What seems to be the problem here?” She asked confidently

Considering how good they were at solving crimes, and saving the days, Superheroes and their ilk were remarkably easy to trick, though he supposed with their great and flashy powers, they didn't exactly need the mind power to back any of it up. That was always an issue though, that anyone he brought here might simply attempt to use brute force to destroy him before any of his magic had a chance to take hold, though that only meant that he was going to need to play it safe.
Before he put out the call for distress, he make a little scene, throwing around furniture to make it look like there had been a fight, and using some make-up from the show's wardrobe department to give him some fake injuries, anything to make the whole situation seem as real as possible. Then he laid down on the floor, panting and heaving as if greatly tired, waiting for Stargirl to show up and try to help.
'I... They tried to kill me... They tried to take it... Please help.'

Stargirl heard the alarm and sprang into action, arriving at the mansion and running inside. She would have time to admire the decor and glamor later, right now she had a job to do. She found the Ringmaster lying on the ground, completely beaten up and in pain. Her eyes widened as she knelt down to him, offering assistance as she heard his pleas.
“W-what happened?! What did they try to take and why did they try to kill you?” She said as she wrapped an arm around him to help him stand

Taking the heroine's hand as she pulled him up to his feet, the Ringmaster did his best to suppress a smile as it seemed that she was walking right into his hands, only just managing to keep up the performance of pain, and torment as he panted and groaned in mock agony.
'They wanted to take it from me... Sell it most like... It's very valuable.' He used his close proximity with the heroine to examine her for a second. 'It was a gift... From someone who saw one of our shows... Some foreign Prince... I've kept it in the vaults for years... To sentimental for me to sell... But they beat me near to death and ran in there... They might still be in there...'

This time allowing the smile to come to fruition as he watched Stargirl run headfirst into his trap, he allowed himself a moment to gloat, knowing that it would be too late for her once she entered into the vault. He steadied himself on a table, dropping the act of weakness and instead going over to the liqour cabinet to pour himself out a glass of whiskey, ready for the victory he was about to receive. When this worked, it certainly wasn't going to be the last celebration he experienced.
It wasn't difficult for Stargirl to find the entrance to the vault, which had surprisingly enough been labelled with a big sign upon the door (a little odd for something that was supposed to be secure, but the wealthy were always eccentric people). Upon entering the inside however, the room did not share much resemblance with a vault at all. It didn't seem to be a room at all. It was a short corridor, completely dark except for one spotlight at the end, baring down upon a single plinth, displaying the only thing that seemed to be in the room, a diamond that glimmered in the light, practically calling for Stargirl to come closer.

Stargirl seemed confused at this. She had been in many vaults before, seen different designs, but this one was just....not a vault. She walked over to the diamond as it glimmered and glowed with such radiance, as if it was a living entity of its own. She continued to stare as she called back behind her shoulder, “Ummmm, are you sure they took something? It looks pretty physical right here!” She said as she turned back to the diamond, seeing how it sparkled and shone

'I just saw them run into the vault.' His voice didn't have the same pained annunciations as it did before, but he assumed that he wouldn't need it anymore, what with her clearly have already seen his object of power. Stargirl certainly was popular, though being a young, blonde and pretty heroine, that only made sense.
The first show would take place in Gotham City, with four more appearances completing the little tour of the United States, leaving the audience begging for more. Of course, the first part of the show was just a formality, people would watch Courtney do a few tricks, and show off her powers, though the real experience would come to those who purchased the VIP tickets for the after-hour experience, a more revealing showing for more wealthy and trusted individuals, which would allow them to experience Stargirl like no one had before.
But that was for later.
For now, the Ringmaster had gotten everything set up and in place, walking out into the audience to massive applause. 'I would like to introduce today's headline performer, the Amazing Stargirl!'

In all honesty, the whole 'pre-show' wasn't the most intricate or perfect thing in the world, after-all, it had been put together in only a few weeks, but he knew the mere fact that Stargirl was there meant that people were going to give it a positive reception regardless: people just ate up Superheroes. The real work had gone into the after party, so the Ringmaster just watched Courtney do her thing for now, knowing he was going to get to see a whole lot more later.

Courtney smiled at his praise as she rose from her bow, waving to the crowd as they cheered her on, “Alright folks, who’s ready for some, Starpower!” With that the crowd went even crazier, cheering and screaming for delight. She leapt into the air and flew around, even doing a few stunts and tricks on the high wire for all to see.
Could have it been planned better? Probably, but she knew that this wasn’t her real show, that would afterwards. When all the kids were away and The Ringmaster’s “Circus of Chaos” began. That’s when she would do as programmed, show off to every adult and teen in the room, just as her benevolent and extravagant Ringmaster had commanded her to.

There was about an hour of Stargirl flying around and doing tricks, the sort of thing that the general populous ate right up, and the Ringmaster was content just to let Courtney run the show, coming out every once in a while to rile up the crowd, or announce a new routine, though eventually the first leg of the show came to an end.
'Now folks, I want you all to give it up for Stargirl here, hasn't she been amazing? Please, tell your friends about our little show here, we still have four more performances in Metropolis, Blüdhaven, Starling, and Central City, I'm sure Stargirl would be pleased to see you there.' He waiting for the applause to die down for a second.
'Now, I would ask our golden ticket holders to remain seated, whilst the rest of you can make your way out. Don't forget to purchase a souvenir from our gift shop on the way out to remember tonight by. Some of it is even signed by Stargirl herself.'
He smiled at the crowd; now the real show was about to begin.

Once he was sure that the daytime crowd had properly departed, and been escorted off of the premises, it was time to begin the real show, and put his new asset to good use; the sort of thing she was really good at.
