Isamu Yoshii, Love Haiku

The geisha tradition of Japan has long fascinated me, so I decided to make myself a wallpaper.

I've tried to include several symbols typical of these artists' world:

The poem is in reference to Gion, which is one of the more famous geisha towns (flower towns is the correct term).

It is by Isamy Yoshii, who spent much of his life surrounded by the elegance of the geisha. There is a festival celebrated in his memory every year.

The white symbol in the lower right is a powerful sexual symbol. The nape of the neck is seen as a very beautiful/"sexy" area on the body. The "W" design is painted in this area by geisha to be an erotic symbol but geisha do not sell their bodies, only their art.

The face of the geisha is usually surrounded in three colors: white, to epitomize the ideal Japanese skin color, red for erotic 'hints', if you will, and dark black hair for the ideal Japanese lady again.

I've tried to create a sense of mystery with this picture, with a barrier across it and blurred outlines to symbolize the mystery of this 'flower-and-willow world'.
