ThunderClan Tryout: Martenflame, Loonfrost's Littermate
OPEN — Closes 04/18/2024!

Blood runs thicker than water, but both feel the same when your eyes are closed.

Up for tryout today is Martenflame, the littermate of Loonfrost and Hollowheart. The son of the disgraced member of the Seven— Seven kits born of Artemis, the cat who led the rogues in the war for StarClan many moons past, and who molded her children to take revenge on her behalf —Martensnarl and his lover Willowtear, Martenflame was not graced with an easy life within ThunderClan. Shortly after Willowtear had learned she was pregnant, Martensnarl and his sister Houndtongue were exposed as having conspired against ThunderClan alongside their seven siblings, and were exiled by Fernstar under pain of death should they return. As a result, the three kits Willowtear would bear would be born under the shadow of their father's disgrace, and would grow up without them in ThunderClan. Martenpaw was apprenticed to the then-deputy Mosspath for his apprenticeship, and was named Martenflame by Fernstar, as his sister was named Loonfrost, the two dichotomous to one-another as a reflection of their close relationship. Prior to their vigil beginning, though, and with Fernstar's permission, the three kits would speak to their mother concerning her brushing over their father's crimes and true nature to them, and effectively lying by omission all their lives. Willowtear broke down and finally confessed to knowing of Martensnarl's true nature, but not having any justification for how she still loved him even after all he'd done. With the relationship between mother and kits damaged, Loonfrost and Martenflame and their brother Hollowheart would enter warriorhood solemnly.

Life in ThunderClan would then be relatively mundane for the trio, though when their mother disappeared from camp, the three suspected she had gone to find Martensnarl. They would also leave, abandoning ThunderClan for a short time to live in the outsider lands as they tracked Willowtear. After surviving a harrowing encounter with the hostile rogue Abaddon, the three would finally find Willowtear... And find Martensnarl, now known as Hades, and confront their father at last. With a tense encounter over with, the four would return to ThunderClan, where they would be spoken to sternly by Fernstar for having abandoned their duties to ThunderClan by running off to find Willowtear, and Willowtear especially was punished for having abandoned her caretaker duties. However, the three would not be punished beyond that, as Fernstar understood the motivations behind what they had done.

Just before the outbreak of the rebellion, Martenflame and his family are out on a walk on the territory when they are set upon by Abaddon, the same rogue who attacked the three when they were searching for Willowtear. With the three kits determined to protect Willowtear, who was helpless in combat due to her many moons spent as a permanent kit caretaker, even their combined efforts wouldn't be enough... But Martensnarl, who had heard the commotion and sensed his family in danger, would turn the tide by attacking Abaddon to protect his ex-lover. It would prove a fatal decision, as Abaddon did not retreat before dealing him a fatal blow. He was surrounded by the children he had never been permitted to know as he died, with them coming to an understanding with him as he passes, if not quite forgiveness or even love. They all return to ThunderClan shaken by his demise, but ultimately, safe. Unfortunately, after the rebellion's outbreak, their family wouldn't remain whole for long — Hollowheart, the third sibling, and the one who had always been the most absent-minded and aloof, abandoned ThunderClan to become a rogue, and Willowtear herself would soon pass away in her sleep from what was thought to be a broken heart over Martensnarl's death and Hollowheart's abandonment of the clan. Now alone in the world together, Loonfrost and Martenflame only have one-another...
Rules
The tryout host (Me) expect the winner to be active with Martenflame! I reserve the right to reclaim & rehome the character should anything arise, though I will always attempt to resolve any issues amicably before reaching that point.

I also expect communication concerning ships, major plots, putting up for injury etc. just so we stay in the loop as family, and because it's common courtesy!

Going along with the last rule, please do not kill Martenflame off or put them up for death without explicit permission from me!

Martenflame's design is not set! The design used by their old RPer is able to be reused by the winner if desired, however that design cannot be owned by yourself down the line. The two designs by Razz you may gain ownership over if you are active with the character for at least 6 months OOCly, it's just his original design where ownership is unable to be transferred. If you bring your own design, of course, these rules do not apply! The only stipulation concerning design is that they must resemble Martensnarl/Hades , as he was named directly after his father.

Tryout Information

Martenflame's name is set, both prefix and suffix! His prefix is for him being named for his father specifically, and his suffix is to mirror Loonfrost's. I may permit a change to 'Martenfire' or something along those lines, but it's extremely tentative!

Martenflame has a very small family; they were born in a litter of three with their sister Loonfrost and brother Hollowheart to Willowtear and Martensnarl, though Martensnarl was exiled alongside the kits' aunt Houndtongue before they were born, and he later died defending his family from a hostile rogue; Willowtear died not long after that from a broken heart, and Hollowheart also had abandoned ThunderClan at that point to live as a rogue himself. Martenflame was mentored by Mosspath , who was then the deputy of ThunderClan.

Martenflame must remain an AMAB cis male, though he could develop IC into another gender identity if desired. He may have any sexuality desired, though!

Martenflame does not technically have a set personality. That being said, he was a very clever, pragmatic and slightly grumpy guy. You can reference his old personality traits for an idea of how he should be portrayed, however I encourage you to put your own spin on it;
Positive: Intelligent, Empathetic, Witty
Neutral: Ambitious, Confidential, Dominating
Negative: Arrogant, Aloof, Contemptible

He is currently 69 moons old, born 05/21/2021.
